Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the start of Season 02 of Buds - Growing experience.
This season I'm planing something a little special. I'll have 5 different strains, 3 automatics and 2 fems.
The fourth one is LSD by Barney's Farm.
Other strains are:
- Royal Gorilla by RQS
- Dance World by RQS
- HulkBerry Automatic by RQS
- Critical Jack Automatic by Dinafem
I'll use 2x 70L water reservoirs, the left one will have all 3 Automatics, the right one only the 2 fems (Royal Gorilla and Dance World)
After hopefully 10-12 weeks of 18/6 schedule the Automatics will be ready for harvest, then I'll transplant Royal Gorilla into the other reservoir so both fems have half of the tent each and its own 70L reservoir for massive root system expansion.
Then I'll flip'em to flowering 12/12 light schedule. It will be nice to see what all the extra space does to the plants, can't wait to research that.
On my last grow I accidentally hurt one of my Mimosa EVO too much and after a few weeks of recovery it started to get extremely thick and big. It produced by far the greatest result with buds the size of a forearm!
I'll try to do similar things here with both fems. I'll try to train the shit out of them!
In the meantime I'll cure all 3 Automatics and have plenty of time to test drive them ;)
Hope you like the plan for Season 02. Of course, quality photographs will follow as soon as there is something nice to see.
If you have any suggestions please leave a comment. I appreciate all of them. You guys rock!
So this is the first week of vegetation and I already think I fucked something up. I didn't give it enough light, and in 2 days all the plants stretched a bit more than I'd wanted. I also didn't remember and didn't take time to look up when I should transplant them into the Hydroponic system but I was so happy to have set everything up that after a week I transplanted all of them which probably fucked things up a bit because 3 of 5 seedlings started to lay flat like there didn't have enough stamina to hold up. If any of you has an idea what I could do to help them, I'd really appreciate it.
After it happened, I adjusted PH to 5.7 and added 10L of water into each res to dilute the nutrients a bit to see if it was a bit too early, to much or something.
Well, fingers crossed 😀
What a week full of problems! I have too little knowledge to tell what went wrong but almost everything went south in both water reservoirs from water and tent temperature at night, too low humidity, PH issues, nutrient burns, brownish floating things in the water to a very weak stem that cannot hold the plant up right and needs support.
I've exchanged both water reservoirs, cleaned them with only water and a sponge and added 40-50L into each of fresh water and left the plants on a water only diet for a few days. They seem to get back on track very slowly but I believe they are doing better now.
The Barney's Farm LSD didn't get hit very much by my fuckups and I'm happy that it's pretty fine even though it's way smaller than Hulkberry. Hopefully I'm on the right track with it...
Another week of overall slow recovery. Before I went away for a week I've exchanged the water again, cleaned both res' and gave the plant fresh water for 2 days and than added just a quarter of the normal feed. I've also put 4cm of styrofoam under the reservoirs to raise water temperature. After a week of me being abscent the plant developed and is the second biggest even if it's at least half the size of Hulkberry. From what I read looking at the plant, it needs a bit more nutrients which I gave it and also stabilized PH to a perfect 5.8 with no issues comparing to last week. Things are starting to look better. Hopefully I've got most of the issues under control now. I've also raised the night temperature a bit which will do good for all the plants :) I'm happy with the result because I was expecting half of the plants to be dead after my holiday. :)
Hi guys, I decided to top my LSD and start LST 😂 I've read so much about how you should or shouldn't train automatics but honestly I don't care anymore. I'm here to experiment and in my opinion everybody in this community will benefit from it if one is thinking about training Automatics. I'll do it for you :)
I'm still struggling with the quality of all the roots and the water in both reservoirs. Some brownish things are building up pretty quickly and I don't know exactly what's wrong in the current grow so I've cleaned both reservoirs with medical grade chemicals to get rid of bacteria. This time around I've also raised the nutrients from 1/4 to 3/4 ml per litre because it looks like it could handle a bit more. Fresh water with a 5.7PH and more new nutrients should be beneficial to all plants. Let's see how it looks in a few days :)
Stay tuned and have a great day guys. XOXO
Hi guys, great week here so just a small update. Everything is going well! All plants are finally doing great for the last few weeks. They recovered so well that I topped them again (after 3 sets of new leaves), made a light defoliation and pinched the stems in a few places again. I've seen it work wonders, that's what I did the last time, it does not matter to me that much if it's an automatic nor a "regular fem" :P, I train them like I would normally. Just check out the thicker nutrient highway on all plants in comparison to other parts of the plants here and in my other diaries :D
I gave'em 3x15ml of nutrients - micro-grow-bloom into 30-35L of water, it's still a little in comparison to normal amounts for this stage, but i think I'm doing a better job going the lighter feed route and checkin out practically on a daily basis if they need more.
I've also made some 1x1x1cm chocolate cubes with Mimosa EVO and Purplepunch coconut oil and the are delicious and they work wonders!
XOXO
Hi guys, this last week has been amazing. LSD Automatic took a few light defoliations without any problems. I'm really happy with it. The place on the stem where I pinched the plant at a young age looks much thicker than other parts of it. I know it was a great investment in the future life of this plant. Other than that not much to say. Since the first weeks were strange, I can't really tell the maturity of the plant but it's at a few good weeks younger stage because it doesn't handle the nutrients regimen for this week but it's okay, I don't mind toasting them for a day or two, I adjust on the fly 😜 I can't believe how well main-lining works on this plant. I keep it reaaaaaaly flat and I'm really happy of what I accomplished. I think that flowering is right around the corner for it.
For now, no super fancy pictures you're all waiting for (guys that know my Trichome closeup fetish... but it will come!)
Stay positive guys (just not 'rona positive, ya know what I'm sayin' :P )
Hi guys! It's flowering time big time in my hood :D All automatics went into flowering this week, just Hulkberry switched a few days earlier. I'm both happy and curious to see how the pants will develop in the coming weeks. That's the part I love the most. All the different strains will show their flavours, their true genetics, it's unique colors, shapes and trichomes. I'll be finally able to start shooting all the fine trichome close ups you all come to see here. Can't wait for the coming weeks of development. Next week I'll start adding Big Bud from Advanced Nutrients over a period of 2-3 weeks. Next week I'll defoliate big time once again and then I'll leave'em alone, but before that I'll exchange water in both res'.
XOXO

Okay guys, this week has been strange as fuuuu. I did a water change in both reservoirs, gave the plants all the nutrients they need aaaaaaand I thought it would be the best time to defoliate heavily for the one more time. I'yuuuum, let's say I overdid it a bit. All the Automatics responded to my pretty heavy treatment very well in the last month but this time was different. First of all, both reservoirs cleaning, turning the lids upside down and attaching them to the the hook system again, adding around 120L of water, then adding nutrients and finaly stabilizing it took so much time that som parts of the roots started to dry out (all in all it took around 1.5h-2h), but i didn't notice it at first. THEN I did the last heavy defoliation on all the plants and LSD Auto and Critical Jack Auto looked like they were weakend very much after all this shit. 3 days in, LSD which was the biggest plant next to Hulkberry Auto has been declared dead, Critical Jack started to recover slowly. Today, a few days later it looks 80%ish recovered. I think it will recover fully in a day or two. All the other plants took the heavy beating pretty well, with those two exceptions. It's a great shame that 2 months in a LSD was essentially killed by me, but it is what it is. I took the risk and trained all the Automats like "regular" fems and until now it worked out well. I decided to germinate another Dance World since I need to know if it's just a bad seed or something else because this plants is so underdeveloped.
I'll take special care of the new one :D
See you guys next time
XOXO
