I decided to down size my grow set up and go with dual "micro-ish" tents. 24x24x55 on the right with the TS600 & 28x28x63 on the left with the TS1000. I will likely update both tents on this Journal, so keep an eye out. I also have a 4x2x6 Mars Hydro tent that I'm hoping to get a light and fan for sooner than later for a dedicated Photoperiod Flower tent.
Germination of 8/8 seeds was achieved with a 12 hour soak in plastic shot glasses then moved to moist paper towels in sandwich bags for another 12 hours on a seedling heat mat.
I've placed the seeds taproot facing down into plastic shot glasses filled with Stepwell soil and a sprinkling of DYNOMYCO to give the roots a boost right off the jump.
Once the seedlings have sprouted I intend to give them a few days to stabilize then place them into their final containers and tents.
The 2x Blue Dream & 2x Green Crack will likely stay in the 24x24x55 Mars Hydro tent under the TS600. The 2x Rhino Ryder & 2x Girl Scout Cookies will be moved into the 28x28x63 Mars Hydro tent under the TS1000 after being placed in their final containers.
The main part of week 1 to note was both the Blue dream'matic seeds that had tap roots never broke the soil so I removed them from the grow unfortunately. I did however germinate 3 new Photoperiod seeds that will be occupying the 24x24x55 tent to veg in the next few weeks.
I moved everything over to the 28x28x63 tent under the Mars Hydro TS1000. On day 7 transplanted 1x Rhino Ryder, 2x Green Crack & 2x GSC Autoflowers from Fastbuds into 2 gallon pots in Stepwell soil.
I placed the remaining runt - 1x Rhino Ryder into a 1 gallon pot because this ones a mutant and I don't know what to expect from my first mutated seedling. I also popped a few photoperiod beans so I can start verging them out in the 24x24x55 tent. 1x True OG, 1x Blueberry & 1x Bubba Kush from Canuk seeds.
Now to dial in my growing environment over the next few days... wish me luck.
Week 2 went by on cruise control with consistent growth. I haven't done any topping or LST yet, but plan to keep my canopy as even as possible. Only the 5 Auto's in the 2 gallon pots will remain in this tent. The runt RR will go into the 24"x24" tent.
Remember, the 3 photoperiods will be going into the 24"x24" tent to veg out until these are done in the 28"x28".
With week 3 down, we are beginning week 4 in the 28x28x63 tent under the TS1000 at 80% power (120 watts).
Everything has been going smoothly and I really dislike this phase of the grow to be completely honest... Started LST, Topped the plants, provided the first veg top dressing with Nature's Pride Veg at 1 tbsp per gallon and watered when dry with filtered water. Tent looks extremely ugly in my opinion after some LST over the last week but I can't complain about how full it's beginning to look and feel! Excited to see what the next week brings.
With day 28 down and the start week 5, only 2 of the 6 are showing pre flowers. The tent has been on cruise control and I've only watered when dry and performed some light defoliation and LST. Excited to see what next week brings.
We are at 100% (full 150w) that the Mars Hydro TS1000 has to offer and my temperature and humidity in both tents are fine by me, even after venting the 24x24 tent into the 28x28 tent - very pleased.
Day 35 and week 5 down in the 28x28 under the TS1000 at 150w (100%) and starting week 6 things are growing pretty well. I did a heavy defoliation of any lower growth because I'm not worried about yield at this time - this run is solely to top up my personal meds to last me through some upcoming experiments and little projects. All except the GSC are flowering now.
Day 42 in the Fastbuds tent and after the last heavy defoliation these girls are happy and exploding with bud sites. The grow room wreaks of gassy flowers and I realized it was because my carbon filters pre filter was clogged with white residue.. (we have extremely hard water in my home and the water softener adds so much salt to the dehumidifier). I'll have to look into those big jugs for next grow. *Note to self*
The girls received 1 tsp/gal of Nature's Pride Bloom and thats all their getting so they can start to cannibalize themselves for harvest in the next 3 weeks.
I moved the 2x GSC into the 24x24 because they were growing a lot slower than the rest. One of the GSC actually started to flower and then seemed to stop producing flowers and started throwing out very tiny fan leaves at the top? Strange! Must be some sort of deficiency because one of the 2 kicked it into high gear and I moved her back into the 28x28. The other has barely grown at all and stayed the same... trying to flower but just can't get er done!
Day 49 for the Fastbuds run under the TS1000. Things are really starting to shape up and I'm extremely please with a few of the individuals. GC1 is bar far my favorite of the tent, with GC2 right behind her.
GC - Green Crack
RR - Rhino Ryder
GSC - do I really need to say it?
GC1 has a ton of resin production while her sister GC2 is the biggest and has the best bud formation in the tent but isn't as frosty. RR1 is second in line for resin production and the biggest in the tent by far, with RR2 being the only girl in a 1 gallon part she started her fade first (as to be expected since she never had as much food as the others) and GSC 1&2 are the girls who started to flower the latest.
Overall, I'm very happy with the 150w light and what I could accomplish in a 28x28 footprint.
No more feeds, bring on the fade!
Thanks for tuning in if you've been following along wondering what happened... my indecisive mind always wanting to achieve something more had me all over the place.
I'm finally happy with what I've got going on here and will keep the updates coming.
The set-up hasn't moved from under the stairs which was always my goal.. I now have 3 tents total and a full perpetual grow from seed starting to drying with the ability to keep it completely under the stairs.
- Mammoth Pro P90 2x3x2 Propagation tent with 2x 24" Sunblaster T5 Fluorescent lights
- Mars Hydro 2x2x4.5 Veg tent with an Optic 1XL non-dimmable 100w LED
- Mars Hydro 2 in 1 - 2x3x4.5 Flower tent with an Optic 2 Gen 3 205w LED
Total power draw of 355w for lights and roughly 50w for the fans, cameras, etc.
So, what are your thoughts? Ps. I'm planning on keeping this set up as it is at least for a little while... Likely will upgrade the lights over time and possibly add another 2x2 to solely run Auto's! Thanks for stopping in.
@Four20, I have owned the SF1000, SF2000 and SF4000. All fantastic lights. My preffered brand for budget Quantum Boards but I thought I would give MARSHYDRO a shot and so far, I'm extremely impressed.
Damn very nice setup! How much ya yield in a year with this setup is it enough smoke for you? are you heavy smoker ? 😅😃 and where do you have sockets for all the lights and air ? youre using socket extensions on almost everything?
@TheCode, this is my first run with this entire set up. It should be enough to fill the void of how much i smoke - and I'm sure as I grow more, I'll smoke more or start making some bubble hash, and edibles. I have 4 sockets behind the tents. I have 2 still not in use. Everything is plugged into a 1800w surge protector and I'm only drawing about 400w total. ✌️ no extensions. I have the cords are organized and rolled up.
@Fruitgrower, hey! Thanks so much. Still not exactly perfect as I'm venting into the room that I'm also drawing air from but I have no other alternative at the moment. I'm only using one Cloudline T4 exhaust fan and filter for all 3 tents, so I'll likely upgrade to the Cloudline T6 down the road, replace the Optic 1XL for a Phatslim 1XL and upgrade the Optic 2 to the Gen4. ✌️there's also room for the Wedryer XL hanging under the smallest portion of the stairs which I haven't posted about yet but I'm currently drying 4 of the 6 autos in there now.
@closetGrow, I've had about 5 different configurations over the course of my two years growing and I haven't been satisfied with any of them, so I'm sure this will change in the future. Once I convince the wife, I will set up the 4x2 and TSL 2000 I have waiting in the closet as a third tent, specifically dedicated to flowering.
