😈👹😈👹 DARK DEVIL AUTO®️!!! 😈👹😈👹
Finally getting around to a strain I’ve been dying to grow! I’m hoping for a successful germination rate, keeping my fingers crossed!🤞
For these girls I’ll be growing in two different mediums with a variety of nutrients and amendments from various brands. Of course as always, all inputs are 100% organic. No synthetics allowed in my garden!
Two Dark Devils will be grown in Nectar For the Gods #4 Soil Mix and the other who will be grown in Malibu’s Baby Bu’s Potting Soil.
Both of these mediums are considered premium and only have the best quality inputs. Both soils also contain coco coir. In my experience I have found that autoflowers grow so much better in soil mixed with coco. Anytime that I’ve grown in heavier based peat soils I get much smaller root balls and root mass in general compared to coco/peat mixed mediums.
The NFG #4 is a much lighter substrate than the Bu’s because it’s filled with a ton of perlite and pumice. One benefit is that it also has basalt so it’s considered “paramagnetic”. The one thing I added to the NFG mix was organic Bio-Char blend made from Build A Soils bio char and locally sourced organic bio char.
The Baby Bu’s medium is 100% Coco Coir based, mixed with their biodynamic compost, worm castings, bio char, and tons of other beneficial ingredients. This medium is slightly heavier than the NFG even though the NFG is peat and coco based. It really comes down to there being less aeration material in the Bu’s blend compared to the NFG. But hopefully the coco will make up for the lack of aeration compared to the Nectar #4. A benefit claimed by both companies is that their products are properly mixed and stored so the customer does not receive “HOT” soil.
The mediums come lightly pre-amended but believe that the Baby Bu’s will have more nutrients than the NFG #4 mix as they claim their soil is an “all mix”. I will be feeding the plants with living oxygenated water, microbial inoculants and light compost teas until the plants look like they need more food. This is my first time growing in both mediums so we’ll see as I grow along!
I will also be adopting the northern lights technique that I’m using on my Banana Blaze grow diary!
Update: 12/16 All four seeds broke ground around the same time at 9:00pm. 100% successful germination rate. Let’s see how they progress into the vegetative state. Update: 12/18 one out of four seeds may be showing signs of damping off. All four were growing straight as an arrow but today one is slightly slouched and leaves are allowing water to soak in. This usually isn’t a great sign!
Update: 12/19 Took the suspected damping off seedling out of her humidity dome and she improved overnight. She is the only one with a greenish colored stem while the other three all have distinctive red/brownish stems similar to other purple strains I have grown.
Thanks for stopping by! 😈
Thats right what you say,,, they love it fluffy and only light fertilised.....
its never to late to give her better ( for her) growingmedium....
Dark devil is such alovely strain. ive grown her 2 years ago...my firast attempft with LST and so fresh to indoorgrowing. And i had all colors from soft pink to dark purple nearly black. And tehy tasted great!!!!
@Mrs_Larimar, I can certainly tell! The bu’s mix is lighter than something like ocean forest but the girls still aren’t too happy in that mix. I’m curious to see how they will grow out of it.. I can see at least one becoming stunted or maybe even not making it! I’m definitely planning on lst as I’ve seen this strain get very tall! I hope that I get a similar color profile from these girls!! If it’s similar to LSD25 I will be very happy 😎
@Greenfingeress757575, Hey there! I’ll give you a super simple recipe to save time!
A great compost tea starter is “Myco Chum” it’s basically the main ingredients for starting a tea which is kelp, humic acids and molasses. The microbes feed and thrive off these ingredients!
So you take about a cup of compost or worm castings per gallon of water and you can either put it in a tea bag or straight in the solution, it’s really personal preference. From there add 1-5ml of the Myco Chum and aerate for 24-36hrs until it’s nice and frothy! You can add your normal nutrients to the tea once it’s done brewing to make a nutrient tea or you can just add it straight up!
I get a little crazy and add a whole lot more but the recipe I gave is a great starting point!
I see it like you its just the soilmixes that dont work for them. That sucks totally .
i think that mix is good for Photoperiods, after seedlingsstation
@FreshCoastOrganics, I have grown some genetics from sweet seeds. and the dark devil too. These are normally vigor growers
and the soil is the base of growing----- if i answere growquestions i always look or ask at first wich sil or medium is taken....
and if its to rich or wrong ph or both,, you plants look shit
I reused my soil and was not doing it good. my old soil was to rich and girls dont want to grow, until i gave them other medium
@Mrs_Larimar, It’s crazy how something like the medium can affect the genetics. Some people always blame bad grows on genetics but never the substrate that the plants are being grown in. Another auto could absolutely love this mix but you never know until you try different mixes. That’s why I never really like to judge a strain until I’ve grown it multiple times in different environments, then I can make fair judgement about the genetics.
I definitely agree though! I’m going save this mix for the summer and test it out with some of my photo period strains!
@Canadamade420, So far they’re doing pretty good. They’re actually a lot happier in the NFG mix which is the one swimming in pumice and perlite 😂 I figured she’d like it better than the heavier mix but hopefully the girls in the Bu’s mix turn out alright, they’re slouching a bit while the girls in the NFG are reaching for the sun
Now they look dangerous !. lol Sweet seeds have a certain look of potency to them with their strains darker phenos. I had the same with 2 being green and mean and fruity but 2 being dark and dangerous looking and also purple and red. lol 2 opposite phenos of the same strain. Good luck on the harvest and dry fresh. can't beat a little variety , why settle for what's available when we have a whole industry offering so many choices. lol Any idea what your heading for with strain ect. ?.
@FreshCoastOrganics,wow sounds like a fun run coming. love Mars lights. I am pushing mine to the max with plant count and still they are producing rock solid nugs. I did the test of the sp3000 and tsl2000 for them and have not looked back since. I own the sp250 too. Full on Marsian and even coined the phrase of being marsians. love seeing it used on a couple of threads now. lol
be interesting to fly some new breeders seeds too. Good luck . Will be watching for it or maybe tag me in?.
@Ganjagrandaddy, Although they were small the smell and amount of trichomes was amazing! The straight purple phenos almost smell like red wine while the green smell fruity just like yours did!they’re currently drying right now and the purples phenos are the darkest strain I’ve ever personally seen so hopefully she smokes as good as she looks! For my next run I’m going to be testing and reviewing Mars hydro lights, tent and a also a new breeder I found local to me in Michigan. The breeders names is Izzy’s Autoflowers and I’ll be growing the chefs “Auto Orange Pound Cake”. I’m anxious to get started on them!
@Mrs_Larimar, I’m anxious to try it!! The smell is definitely unique to this strain. I don’t think I’ve smelt one quite like this so I’m sure the taste is just as good!
