I decided to plant these directly in the soil. I kept them fairly wet and in a warm dark place. Once they sprouted I moved them off to the side of the 1500W light and had it raised all the way up. This is my first grow so I didn't want to burn them but they stretched and needed to be much closer to the light. 28" worked good on day 5.

Tried 24" and it was too strong.
I have them on a 18/6 light schedule. I am waiting until the soil is dry about 3/4" down and watering them moderately. No nutrients yet. The soil is a basic home mix just to get them started. They will be transplanted into good soil fairly soon. Straight tap water.
The first White Widow (WW) and the first Special Kush #1 (SK#1) took off very quick. The second SK#1 did nothing at all. The second WW was VERY slow to stand and open leaves. This may have been my fault because I think when I placed the seed into the soil I left a gap around the seed. It had trouble making a tap root long enough to stand itself up. Fixed that and she opened up.
Day 13 - The White Widow (#2) that was lagging behind has now caught up and even surpassed the other WW and SK#1. She is looking great.
All are looking healthy and no issues. I started adding a light amount of Foxfarm Big Bloom. I am going to try to keep this grow as organic as I can.
This week they seem healthy but are growing quite slow. I decided to put them in their final fabric pots on day 21 and they are taking off now. The starting soil was junk, won't make that mistake again. I mixed up new soil and it seems really nice.
My soil consists of:
(1) Happy Frog 2 cu. ft. Bag
(1) Ocean Forest 1.5 cu. ft. Bag
(4) Gallons of Brut Farms Worm Castings (About 15%)
(4) Gallons of Vigoro Perlite (About 15%)
(1) Gallon of Vigoro Coco Coir
Made about 4.7 cu. ft.
This is my first indoor grow so I did a little research on soil/nutes and then got the stuff I could find on sale or available at the time. I have hope it will turn out well. Even if I harvested only two ounces this grow will be cheaper than buying from the man in this area.
So far I have $351.81 into this entire setup including a few tools. I imagine at the end I will have less than $450 into this grow including water, electric or any nutes/Voodoo magic I might need.
The lights I bought at an auction way cheaper than buying new. The Phlizon light was damaged but I repaired it with some solder and it works 100% now. That light has a whole lot going on inside! Also, some of the new stuff was on sale. Here is the list of stuff I have bought until now for this grow.
