I am trying out a living soil/super soil pre-mix from Amazon, it’s called Illinois grower club..
Will be adding a few amendments to it throughout the grow I’m sure, but this is my first girl using a purchased super soil like this.. I’ve never made my own super soil either but it’s the middle of winter for me so I thought I’d just give this a go.
These two ceilings are stretching ridiculously fast, I’ve never seen this type of stretch from germination. I’m assuming it’s due to the sativa genetics – these are supposed to be 100% sativa genes.
First week of veg
These are doing just fine, they did slow down a little bit on the vertical growth I was concerned they were stretching really bad in the first couple days they sprouted.
These are in a super soil/living soil I got on Amazon from Illinois growers club/Hopwood farms. It’s supposed to have all the necessary amendments and nutrients at least for the majority of its life.
Real excited to grow a 100% sativa strain, I’ve grown a couple of the 100% Indica strains from ILGM and really enjoyed them. It’ll be interesting to see the difference in plant structure and what not, as most the strains nowadays are some type of hybrid.. so I can be hard to tell exactly what parts of the plant or an expression of the sativa or the Indica genetics.
Stay tuned, thanks for stopping by!
So these Durban poison plants are taking off pretty well.. i’m happy with where they’re at right now. I’m thinking I’m just going to be choosing the best of the two plants to take into flower but that may change in the future. I just don’t have a ton of real estate in my flowering tent as we speak.
I’m kind of surprised at how wide the leaves are given to this is supposed to be a 100% sativa strain. But we’ll see how that ends up looking in a couple weeks, I guess they kind of all look similar in the seedling/beginning of Veg stage.
I’m pretty excited because I usually only grow Indicas and Indica dominant strains..
Thanks for stopping by!
Hey everybody how’s it Goin?
So the two Durban poison plants I germinated from seed are pretty much neck and neck as far as solid growth. I was thinking maybe if one of them was definitely growing faster than the other one I would choose that one alone to move forward into flower. But at this point they’re both looking like great plants, great gene expressions from both of them so I decided to go forward with both of them.
So the only difference between these two, is the make up of the soil that I ended up using.
Durban poison #1 I used a super concentrated super soil on the bottom 1/3, for the top 2/3 of that one I used Foxfarm ocean forest with about 20% coco.
Durban poison #2 i used straight up Foxfarm ocean forest, with 20% coco.
So really the only difference is that in DP #1 are used a bottom layer of “super soil “
The “super soil” that I used on the DP#1, is from Illinois grower club/Hopwood farms, I found it on Amazon.
I am new to trying these living soil/super soil type mediums for my plants, I have pretty good knowledge in hydroponics and I tried pure Coco for my last grow.
Thanks for stopping by, happy grows!
Both of these have made excellent progress in the last week or so.
Last weekend, somehow the Durban 1 ended up with some unexplained damage on one of the nodes like someone just ripped off part of it - so I ended up topping above 3rd node.
The Durban 2 is killing it as far as veg growth is concerned, looking super healthy and all that..
Im probably going to take them both to flower within the next week or so
Hello folks, this is week five for the two Durban poison plants from ILGM.
We are still in veg at this point, going to move into 12/12 flower likely within the next week.
So as you can see there’s a distinct difference between these two plants which was accidental to some extent. The DP1 plant Was somehow injured on the new growth when I was away for a few days, so I elected to top it below the injury and it currently has three nodes growing/ six branches.
I’m real happy with the way these two plants are progressing.
These are in a custom mix soil, DP2 is essentially fox farms ocean forest with maybe 20% coco. DP1 (topped plant) has a bottom 1/3 layer of hopwood farms “super soil”, then the top 2/3 is fox farms ocean forest mixed with 20% coco.
I have begun to feed a light solution (25%) of fox farms grow big when feeding/watering.
Thanks for checking out my diary folks!
DP2 is going into flower tent this week,
DP1 will stay vegging a bit longer since it was topped - I wanna grow it out more and allow for a full recovery before moving it into the flower tent.
All’s well this week, started doing more nutes to each one instead of a very light dose I was doing before, as I’m assuming the nutes in the soil are close to being depleted
DP1 topped and has 3 nodes growing 6 branches
DP2 is just working with some LST
DP1 went into flower tent (12/12) officially on February 21
DP2 went into flower tent (12/12) officially on February 12
DP1 is not loving something that’s going on lately with her.
Could be that she’s not a good candidate for topping and/or training.
Could be overwatering here or she’s a bit of a light feeder in comparison to the other Durban. She just looks wilty sometimes and new growth is twisting - which I’ve experienced on some autos that were sativa leaning.
Anyhow the main non-HST Durban is just cranking on all cylinders at this point. I’m gonna do a major defoliation here soon but just waiting for flowers to get a bit more developed.
Durban #1 (topped) is doing much better now, I flushed her out and that helped her perk up quite a bit.
Durban #2 is a week or 10 days ahead in flower time at this point.
Very happy with both at this point
Picked up the fox farms soluble trio for flower (open sesame, beastie bloomz, and cha Ching) started running them on these
She’s cranking on long with growth..
**(Dp1 is topped and 10 days behind in flower, Dp2 is all natural w/ some LST
Dp1 switched to 12/12 light on feb 21
Dp2 switched to 12/12 light on feb 12)
Hermie found in tent, bananas popping out of the CBD plant I had going, so I isolated it and I think the rest in here are fine!
Excellent terpene profile going.. it’s like a mojito drink.. mint and lime/citrus.. very unique in my experience..
Going to mildly defoliate today, just a few leaves to discourage mildew growth.
Dp1 (topped one) is 10 days less in flower.. she’s looking just about on par to the older Durban.
They’re both slightly over fed and getting a bit of burn on tips, so I dialed back the feeding to 25-33% strength today when I watered.
Fighting spots of WPM so brought a big basement dehumidifier in the room to help - and it did just that, RH was lingering around 55 before and this got it down to 35-40 and 45-50 at night when lights are out.
This terpene profile is legit like I’ve said before.. minty citrus like a mojito
Dp1 topped and put in flower feb 21
Dp2 just LST and put in flower feb 12
Differences in phenos showing here now..
Dp1 has denser, bigger flowers even tho it’s younger. Also showing some purples more than Dp2
Dp2 has more airy spongy flowers and calyxes - looks to be more frosty tho
Shorter flower than I had expected.. always hope for more weight but these last few grows have just been to find some solid strains I like and good for growing.
I’ll have plenty of this stocked so won’t be growing any time soon again.
