Clones went in the pots Jan 11 2021 Decided to experiment with salt based nutes in an auto pot system this grow and floraflex has a great reputation not to mention is available at my local shop. I’ll be starting another grow in about 4 weeks and using crop salt in a separate 4x4 (stay tuned!). Clones were from my last grow, stored by a friend using only water aeroponicly with no medium. To transplant I dipped in a concentrated myco Jordan skirt and placed in the hole in the coco, pushing it firmly and watering with a bit of slurry. I let them rest for 24hrs before feeding and then gave a light feeding of: silica (mixed well and ph’d), cal mag, floraflex v1, floraflex v2, myco Jordan

Well, these poor clones spent the week struggling. A combination of me not feeding them enough because I feel the coco is too saturated, also wasn’t foliar feeding. Started that this week and you can see in the most recent that new growth is nice and dark green. So what have I changed? I started feeding more often, assuming the larger clones with small unestablished roots (cloned without media aeroponic) need less more frequently so they can start growing, but at the end of the day can’t absorb enough water and nutrients yet to sustain the plant. So I also started foliar feeding (why I stopped myco for a week) which I think made the biggest difference, also increased humidity. Now for the interesting news. My friend that gave me these fed them only water for so long that they began to flower from stress. So I’ve had to re veg them, also known as monster cropping. From what I’ve read the one thing you want to do when you attempt this technique, is that it be on purpose hahaha. Well here goes nothing, weird growth be damned! Already starting to bush out now that they are happier. Not sure if I’m out of the woods yet, I’ll feel better once the roots are better established

Grow Questions

I feel like my coco isn’t drying, partially because there’s no root mass to support the larger container (I know, I know, I’ll use solo next time to get them started in media before transplanting into auto pots). Anyway, is overwatering possible with coco like soil?

If it's not drying then leave it lol don't water more. Coco is best mixed with clay pebbles or perlite as it gives better airiation and drainage . It's hard to over water in coco but you don't want to flood it either. Once the top starts to dry out is usually when I water . Every other day waterings at your stage . No need to water everyday atm as they don't have enough root mass. Also keep in mind that plastic pots and straight Coco will take longer to dry out.

Coco coir natural hold air like perlite or growstone. Adding one or other to coco mix helps with drainage and additional air to roots. With coco use cal mag. Like 3 times amount. Coco absorbs cal mag, so compensation is needed. Good luck and happy growing 🌲🌲🌲👊

Not if it's good coco. It's very hard to overwater in coco if you have decent drainage. Just a warning, constantly wet coco invites critters. Let the top half inch to an inch dry out occasionally.

Really starting to see nice growth, looks like roots have developed more, still hand feeding. Seeing mutant growth with weird nodes, lots of flower sites developing and 3 bladed leaves. Continuing with the same feed regime

Changes changes, been trying to try down why the plants have been slightly sad. Turns out light stress was the answer, so I raised the lights to the top of the tent. Also thinking temp was too low at 20, bumped to 25 and setup a new inkbird controller off Amazon that’s just dandy. It has the ability to set 2 temps by time so I also have my night temps locked in at 20. Also, decided to give the plants some sleep to reduce stress, stating now with 5 hours of sleep. Good pretty much stayed the same, increased to 2.5g/l of floraflex veg nutes as well started foliar feeding with floraflex foliar at 1g/L. New growth seems nice and happy, hopefully it’s smooth sailing from here

Stopped adding cal mag, adding less silica as well, spend most of my time trying to find a switch that works for the light, 240v led is useless

Starting to add full tilt and finally back at recording the grow. It got less talc for a while so I could get my second tent set up, check it out! For real though, they needed a hair cut, bad, I haven’t thinned since flip. Got an hour in today and holy shit, although all clones, in the same env, same nutes, one plant is bonkers and is forming fore arm sized colas. Smell is off the charts fruit, it’s amazing. So much resin production!
