Super excited to start this as my first grow I'll be doing completely by myself.
Wasn't sure if I wanted to go with Royal Gorilla Auto or Northern Lights Auto but decided to buy a three pack of the Gorilla and ended up getting one free Northern Lights seed included in my purchase! Starting germination today with one of each seed planted directly into soil.
Planted the seeds January 23rd at midnight, exactly 2 days later on the 25th they sprouted
Day 3 since sprouting they are looking good, they where stretching a little so I increased the light to 50% and lowered it to about 26 inches and they look a lot better now. I watered once yesterday and will water again tomorrow.
Day 6, the Royal Gorilla has a good set of 3 bladed leaves and you can see the next set of 5 bladed leaves sprouting from the top. Both are looking really good the Northern Lights is about 12 hours behind in terms of growth. I watered on day 4 and I will water again on day 7.
Day 7 I had the fan blowing too hard on them since they stretched a but they where weak and getting a little blown over so I added another inch and a half of soil to keep em sturdy and they are looking great. Gave em another water today of 250ml of water each with their first dose of nutrients 0.5ml of Biobizz grow per plant.
Just hit week two with these girls and they are performing quite well. I'm really happy with their steady growth. Gave them their first dose of nutrients with yesterday's watering and today im noticing the slightest bit of yellow that could be a burn so I will give just water next feed.
Day 11 the girls are looking really good the spot I thought might be a burn is really small and didn't get any worse so I gave a really light feeding with today's water about 1ml/L excited to see these thicken up a bit so I can begin some low stress training.
Day 12 started LST by bending both plants down towards the center of the light.
Day 15 is here and im really enjoying this grow, excited to hit week three I guess this is where the growth is really going to start to explode. Did some some low stress training to both plants and a tiny bit of super cropping on the main stem of Royal Gorilla.
Day 17 both girls are responding well to the LST although I think I stressed them out a little too much because they are both showing pistils already, I will continue feeding 1l to each plant every 3 days.
Day 18 lots of development in the last two days for the Royal Gorilla she is a beast and has an amazing bonsai look from the super cropping and LST.
The Northern Lights is still growing steady day by day but its quite slower and smaller than her sister.
Day 19 did light defoliation on the Royal Gorilla
Day 21 the Royal Gorilla is still doing great and responding super well to the training.
I'm not sure if the Northern lights is stunted or just a smaller plant or what but its not taking to the training at all and just wants to keep staning straight up so im going to just leave it alone and add a scrog when its a little bigger.
Day 22 royal gorilla continues to grow rapidly i think she's doing her pre flower stretch as pistils as slowly showing up on every node. I took all the ties off of the Northern lights and she shot right back straight up and seems to have recovered so im just gonna keep letting her doing her thing while I train the gorilla.
Day 26 realized I've been making the rookie mistake of doing the most and beating up the plants a little too much so im not taking pictures and playing with their ties every day any more. I just set the ties up check on em once a day and adjust as they out grow the ties. Both plants are doing great and really starting to stretch.
They are still stretching out hard and the bud sides are picking up weight both of these plants are looking really nice.
Day 34, I noticed underwatering issue the other day, I was so afraid of overwatering id been starving the girls with only 500ml every three days, I just gave them two liters each yesterday and they are recovering well. Hopefully they start to take off again cause the under watering stunted them hard.
Day 37, last day of week five they had seriously outgrown their ties so I took off all the pipe cleaners and started fresh on the LST on both plants. They are looking really good.
Day 37 did a very light defoliation to the Gorilla, NL didn't need anything.
Haven't written much this week but its day 42 which means its the very last day of week 6 and these girls are really starting to swell up. The Royal Gorilla smells like some really good hash and the Northern Lights has a delicious lemony sour smell to it so far. I upgraded my tent to an 80x80x180cm this week so i have some standing room and more room for flowering. I also upgraded the light to a Kingbrite 240w Samsung LED quantum board. I am going to use the larger tent and light for the flowering and put some new plants to veg in the slightly 70x70x160cm tent with the ts1000 150w LED.
I have also added the humidifier back to the main tent along with an air purifier for additional air flow and smell control
Day 43 super stoked to be here at week 7 these buds are ripening deliciously. There's a few particular colas on the Gorilla im drooling over.
Day 49 still spending a lot of time with the plants but over the honeymoon where I want to write every last detail in this diary haha. Probably stick to a couple notes and pics till harvest from now on. Last day of week 7 getting closer and closer to harvesting.
Since I upgraded the tent and light I started another grow with amnesia haze, runtz, and a red poison bonsai using the older set up.
As we enter week 8 on day 50 they are getting fatter than hell I'm really satisfied with my first grow. I was trying to set the bar low so I didn't disappoint myself after tons of rookie mistakes but this is going really well.
Since upgrading to the 240w I'm battling heat a little bit more but it's manageable I have it set to around 80% which is still more watts than the ts1000 I am now using for veg.
Day 52 did some pretty solid defoliation on the girls, the Gorilla is honestly so thick, especially with the sea of green style I want to prevent budrot and make sure all these nugs get plenty of light.
The stigmas on the northern lights are all starting to turn a really pretty orange. The nugs are growing a little taller and slimmer but there's less leaf and the buds appear a little more dense. One lower on the NL was just growing directly into the side of the tent so I did some super cropping to get her standing up and seeing light.
Last day of week 8 I'm pretty sure I got a 70 or so day chop. I completely fixed the heat issue in the tent. I had an air purifier just standing in the tent for extra air circulation and smell reduction but I actually stuck it right in the lower duct as another exhaust at the bottom. Now there is an exhaust at the top and bottom and a good nice opening for air intake from the main room. The airflow is so good that it actually gets warmer when I open it up. I think it's sticking around 25°c with the light at 100% compared to before when it was around 30°c at 80%
God damn is it the start of week 9 already. Looking like a 70 day chop for sure for the northern lights. Hopefully that means I'll have some stuff dried and semi cured to roll up in time for 4/20
Day 60 just watered I read a lot on flush vs no flush and there's a ton of data to suggest it doesnt matter to much either way especially with organic so gonna do a slow taper for their final days.
My microscope came in a couple days ago and wow these where a lot more ripe than I thought. Some of the upper buds had like 25%amber trichomes and the rest where very cloudy on both plants little to no clear, so I chopped both on day 63.
First grow from seed to harvest can't wait to come back with reports after a dry and cure. Man this stuff hits strong and taste great I can't wait to let it cure for 2-4 weeks and taste and smell it then. 56g of amazingly delicious buds and only 4g of light larfy stuff that I'll just be sampling while the good stuff cures. Even the little bit of popcorn buds smoke and vaporize really well.
Overall this strain was an absolute beast I can't if I could grow it this well on my first try growing ever then I can't imagine what a pro could do with these genetics. It smells like grape candy it's covered in trichomes, the color fade was incredible to watch. 10/10 will be growing this again.
Man after a 7 day dry this thing smells like absolute heaven and packs a punch. I only tested one nug and I won't be touching it again until 2 weeks in the jar minimum. 70g of quality but only 2g of larf. Really can't believe I pulled a quarter pound off my first harvest from two plants.
