Growing Fast Buds Tangie'Matic again. This was one of the first strains I grew and I had great results the first time. Looking forward to seeing if I can up my game at all this time.
My Perpetual Harvest strategy…. Originally my plan was to start 2 seeds each month, but had some seeds from one breeder that did not germinate early in my rotation. Ultimately, this caused single seeds to pop and messed up my 2 at a time plans. But, that seemed to work out OK, because now I think starting one seed every 3 weeks is a better strategy. This should provide me with 4-5 plants at a time, instead of 6. However… Since I need to shut down over the summer because my tent is currently in the attic, I’m starting 2-3 seeds at at time for the last couple of rounds.
Plants get fed once weekly on weekends. Seedlings get water only. Plants in vegetation get water and Recharge. Flowering plants get water, Recharge or Big Bloom (Fox Farm). Feeding is done using 2 gallon watering can. Any additional waterings during the week are given on an as needed basis per plant. I lift the plants to help determine which plants are more dry (lighter) and provide water any plants via water bottles and watering spikes.
I give each pot a quarter turn every day in an effort to make sure the plants get equal lighting from all sides. I rotate the plant in place by turning the pot 90 degrees (I am not rearranging the layout of the plants in the tent on a daily basis).
The soil is an ‘organic super soil’ I mixed myself using organic top soil, organic potting soil, organic compost, organic peat moss, organic perlite, organic vermiculite, lime, epsom salt, expanded clay pellets and Jobe’s organic fast start. I am also recycling my soil and water with Recharge when using recycled soil.
For plant training I have tried a variety of things, but my plans now are to do LST bending only, no HST anymore. I may decide to go back to HST again in the future, but I’m curious to compare LST training only to see how that goes. Around week 3 I'll do a FIM pinch once there are 4-5 nodes established. And some defoliation around the 3rd week of flowering. I have been doing HST bending and having good results, but think the HST may be causing the plants to take longer to harvest. I hope FIM/defoliation only will help increase harvests while getting me to harvest sooner.
Setup:
1- Grow Tent 24”x48”x72”
2- Viparspectra 300W LED’s (1-V300 & 1-R300)
1- Hanging 100w CFL (26w actual)
1- Carbon Filter w/ 190cfm Fan & 4” ducts
1- 6” clip-on fan
1- 700w electric heater - oil filled radiator (in front of air intake behind tent)
Tangie'Matic growing nicely, as expected. Really excited about growing this stain again at the end of my growing cycle. Tangie'Matic was one of the first strains I grew last fall and I really liked the results. But I'm hoping for even better results now with a few grows under my belt. I feel like I've learned a lot over the past few months. Hopefully it pays off here.👍
Fast Buds Tangie'Matic grew a ton this week. I gave her an overdose of Recharge this week and I think it paid off. Looking forward to the upcoming growth this week. 👍
Fast Buds Tangie'Matic is growing strong. Still feeding Recharge only and she's loving it. She still has plenty of stretching to do, it should be an exciting week ahead! 👍
Tangie'Matic is growing great, as expected. Nice looking bud site development. Started giving Mammoth P this week in combination with Recharge, looking forward to the results.
Tangie'Matic is showing nice bud development this week. I backed down a little on the Recharge this week, but still giving twice the suggested amount. Also still giving her Mammoth P. Will start with MegaCrop (Greenleaf) nutrients later this week. 👍
Tangie'Matic is coming along strong. Nice bud development over the past week. I'm worried about it getting too hot now in the attic, where my grow tent is. I'll probably be moving most plants outdoors in the next couple of weeks. Hoping for the best! 🙏
Buds are fattening on the Tangie'Matic. She is looking and smelling very good. She's a bit shorter than the first Tangie'Matic I grew last fall/winter. Oh well.
Tangie'Matic coming along nicely. Nice size buds, smells really good, and good color overall. She's quite a bit smaller than my first Tangie'Matic. But I have a feeling this girl is going to taste better (fingers crossed).
Hello GrowDiaries Friends,
Unfortunately I was in a car accident last week. I shattered my heal bone (calcaneus), fractured my face and tore open the side of my face around my eye. I’ve had a few surgeries to put things back in place and I’m feeling better each day.
However, my injuries prevent me from caring for my plants personally. One of my best friends (who is also a grower) has been helping with feeding the girls and my wife has been pitching in with waterings also. All of my plants are still doing well, but its too much to ask for them to take pics and videos as I would normally do to update my diaries.
I’ll be off my feet for at least 2 months, but I do plan on updating my diaries as I can. Which will probably be mostly harvest reports. I’ll miss taking care of my plants and doing more GD updates for now, but I’ll be back!!!
I still can't tend to my plants myself due to my broken heal bone (calcaneus). My buddy has been feeding the plants and my wife has been watering and taking pics for me.
We cut her down this weekend and have her drying now. I'll post the harvest report once I've had a taste! 👍
Ahh, what can I say about Tangie'Matic that has not already been said? I love this strain! It was one of the first strains I grew and I loved it as much then as I do now. She's a sweet tasting bud that gets you really high! 😃
The first Tangie'Matic I grew was much larger for some reason, but the buds taste are nearly identical (I've been saving some of my original Tangie'Matic harvest). This one grew more like a Indica plant and the first one grew showing more Sativa traits. But nice fat buds either way! 👍
As I said above Tangie'Matic is one of my favorite strains. I'd be happy growing this strain over and over. She's Indica dominant, but not too strong in the couch lock department, I can still get things done while high on Tangie. I'll be growing more Tangie'Matic in the future.
Big shout out to my friends and family for helping our with my plants after the accident as well to all of my friends here on GrowDiaries for the positive vibes! You guys ROCK! 👊
Quick update... After curing for a while she's really released tons of citrus flavors. Really, really nice. Way better than my fist Tangie'Matic harvest - which was previously one of my favorites. I saved a few buds from my original harvest and compared with the latest harvest. My original harvest was good, really good. But this latest harvest is AMAZING! Thanks @FastBuds !!!
very nice explanations dude. its great to see / read your feeding watering cycle. The tent arrangement(Light) excurse into soil. and ending with the cutting/ bening technics. very nice thank you for sharing it... but what are watering spikes? never heard abou t
P.s.
Its the essence of growing on the first page. clearly nailed it
@Larimar, BTW, here is the Amazon link for the watering spikes I've been using:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01HXXA6E6/ref=sspa_dk_detail_5?psc=1
This pack came with both the terracotta spikes and plastic spikes.
@Larimar, Thanks bro. Everything is slowly getting better. But I'm probably going to need one more surgery on my face at the end of the month to get my eye lids to close properly. The cast on my leg comes off Friday, I'm soooo looking forward to walking again! 👍
@Larimar, They are VIVOSUN 3 Gallon Grow Bags. Found these on Amazon also. Here is the link:

@DudeGrowsWeed,nice one I was just having a look through your diaries and noticed they were autos so thought I'd ask and yeah it's understandable will be nice when u get the basement sorted I struggle to grow autos as my veg room is always full but getting odd one here and there going to definitely be running tangiematic in a bigger pot as iv taken a big liking to it looking forward to seeing you do some photos happy growing buddy
It must tasted delicious , im doing one myself coco/perlite drip style . Im wandering , why you supplement your leds with cfl's , you have 600W LED dropped on them allready.
@heyhey, The CFL was for side lighting as well as close lighting for the youngest plants. But you’re right, it didn’t make much difference. I’m not using the CFL anymore. The Tangie was tasty 😋
I did Tangerine Dreams Auto from Barney’s Farm and it is one of my recent favorites. I still have some jars that have been curing for over 3 months. Every time I grind a bud up the citrus smell hits me like a brick wall. And it’s still getting stronger!
@PharmaZ, The MegaCrop does seem to help. I haven’t gone start to finish with it yet so it’s hard to say how good it is. I’ll be getting the indoor rig going again in a few weeks with some fresh seeds and I’ll give it a real test then. But I like it so far.
