Planted this seed last Wednesday. Directly in my soil which is mostly peatmoss and perlite. I have been spraying the soil a lot with plain filtered water. I just started it on 18 hours light but on low. The temperature is between 62-82 degrees. I am guessing the soil is drying out and that's why it hasn't germinated, but I read that the paper towel method (that i have used for all my outdoor grows) is bad for the root so I went straight into the soil. Now what??? I covered it with a clear plastic dome. Any other ideas???

The second set of true leaves have emerged, so I am calling this week 1. Started her on a weak nutrient routine 1/2 strength of FoxFarm Grow Big. Someone suggested that would be good because I mixed a cup of worm castings into the soil so I don't want to overfeed. I had the light down to 9 inches, but I noticed the point of the leaves starting to pucker upwards, and I read somewhere that this might be because of too much light???? The Phlizon 1000 is not hot at all, so I think that is good, but I am not turning it up all the way because I think that setting is supposed to be for flowering cycle??? I am running an oscillating fan a couple hours a day. I hope all of these decisions I am making are good ones. It's an adventure. for sure. I am so so done with smoking overpriced dry shit that has no head! Excited and trying to manage expectations🎈😻.

She grew another inch of stem yesterday with some horizontal spread. Should I be worried about all that stem?

No need to worry, your plant "knows" what it is doing. If she keeps falling over, add a bit more substrate to your pot. The extra layer of soil that buries your stem will prevent it falling over and over time, roots will sprout from the buried portion of the stem. increasing both water and nutrient uptake. Hope this helps,.... Organoman.

Carmel had a great 1st week of Veg. Top leaves have 5 points now and nodes for new growth are developing under the big new fan leaves. Started light feeding with 5ml/gallon of Grow Big. I was told that you shouldn't feed at full strength when you are using soil enriched with worm castings and such. I feel like I should think about LST soon, but a little scared of it.

She is growing big and strong now. Good strong stem and 4 branches coming off the main stalk with more coming. I probably should have started LST by now, but this is my first grow and I am scared to do it. I stopped feeding for a week on advice from other growers (answered question #2) but she has developed a lot this week, so I am starting at less than 1/2 strength. I just added 3 pics of the top because I am seeing hairs come out. Isn't his really early??? She was planted on 1/20.

It has been a very big week for Carmel with lots of new growth. She now has 8 strong branches coming off the main stem. There are at least 9 budding sites starting to form. I took out 2 big fan leaves that were blocking branches, and the next day they were almost as tall as the main stem. Then I took out another leaf and tucked another 3, and now there's 8 strong stems with 4 more seeming to be coming along too. I am not sure this is good. Can you sacrifice good nugs for a lot of light ones? The canopy seems to be pretty even. No LST (because the videos scared the shit outta me) but the light seems evenly distributed along the top, so that worked out. I have been raising the light all week, but should it be even higher? Also, the tips if the branches are now definitely showing white hairs. Should I start switching nutrients now? So many questions? Very exiting. I can't believe I have been smoking for almost 50 years and this is the first time I am seriously growing. 😜

Flowering is underway. Little hairs everywhere. My DIY space is 2 feet wide and she is up against the walls. I keep raising the light now I am going to have to mount it from the ceiling. Only 37 days old. I've been following a week-by-week growing guide from ILGM and it's only supposed to be 11 inches by now. No idea how this happened.

My autoflower has become a BEHEMOTH. It is now over 34" at 37 days?? DIY space only 2x3 floor and 7 feet high. Is this normal? It's a race to keep the light 8+ inches away. Not a heat issue (GREAT LIGHT) but concerned that this may not be growing correctly.

That's an insanely filled out auto. I grow autos outdoors, so I would absolutely welcome this amount of growth in the short veg time that they have, but I can understand it being worrying in a limited enclosure. I would have been asking myself if you got a photoperiod by mistake, but your lighting is still 18/6 and it's flowering, so it's definitely an auto - just a very productive one. You'll probably have to do some training to keep her manageable, but otherwise it looks super happy and whatever you're doing is working like a charm. All the best with this!

Do you add structural support to branches before they form buds? People have warned me to add structure to my plant ASAP. I don't see a lot of photos of plants with stakes. My plant is really tall & I didn't train it because I was scared to break it & horizontal space limited.

If you have a fan that blows and gives good air movement to her she should be fine. The fan will help build up her stock and branches. You can always support her later on if needed.

Rebuilt the grow space for the third time. Now she has way more room to spread out. Top is full of flowers which are thickening up.

Sorry I have missed a few weeks. End of semester, then I used my break to rebuild the grow space into a more permanent and stable structure. She stopped growing 3 weeks ago and now her buds are getting thicker and stickier. Strong sweet smell. Hairs are turning brown by tricombs are cloudy white. Classes start again on Monday, so I may chop her before class. First grow has been a joy and an adventure.
