The grow had been progressing very well, at least for my first. I put in a 600w equivilant viparspectra LED and the plant is responding very well. Temperature has been hard to control, it’s been staying at 80 but I would prefer mid 70s. Going to be moving from a closet to a grow tent half way through the third week so hopefully I can get the temperature and humidity just right.. humidity is hard to keep over 50% due to ventilation issues, however misting constantly through the day is working very well. Time to move into the harder stages and see what sort of problems I will encounter!

Oh boy has a lot changed since last week. Where to start, obviously it’s grown a lot since the second week. And I ended up having a friend give me a plant he had started growing. It’s only a week older than mine and had quite a long stem, because of the lack of light at my buddy’s place. Also struggled to keep the humidity up and the heat down, had the heat in the low 80’s a lot which caused the leaves to fold upward slightly. However this has been corrected by placing a second fan to circulate more air. Temperature has been good at 77 for the most part now as this week ends and I’m looking forward to seeing the plant grow exponentially. This Wednesday I’ll have a 4x2x6 grow tent to put them into and everything will go forward!

So a lot has changed since last week again...! Got a 4x2x6 Mylar grow tent now and it’s been so much better than just the closet. Have been keeping the temperature right in he mid 70’s and have been able to maintain the humidity over 60% so it’s going well. As of today I topped the White Widow, excited to see how it grows from here in out. The second plant is an indica called fruity pebbles, it’s 2 weeks older than the white widow however it’s in the same stage of development so I’m going to go ahead with everything planned. Expecting some fox farm grow big and tiger bloom in the mail this week so ill be dosing with those soon as well. Hopefully going to switch them into flower in 2 weeks. The plants are 6.2 and 8.2 inches tall respectively. When I first got the fruity pebbles it was quite stringy, very thin and it was developing and bud leaves at all, but in this past week under the more intense light it’s just started getting fat. It’s developing lots of growth quickly and had stopped stretching so I don’t think it will be much taller than the white widow. Excited to see how the next two weeks go! Getting a carbon filter for the tent this coming week so everything will be in place before flower.

Ouh boy are they growing now! Looks like the fruity pebbles is a female and has some white pistils out of her. She was from a friend and he didn’t own what type of seed he used but it could be an auto flower, highly doubt it though. I topped the white widow and noticed the first growth coming out of it had leaves that just looked bad. They were torn almost looked like they’d been eaten but those were the only leaves and I found no sign of bugs. Other than that though they’re doing great, excited to switch to flower at the end of this week, gonna be getting big real soon!

Another good week. Started dozing more nutrients and noticed they were taking more water. Both are starting to get a weak plant smell. Set up the carbon filter and exhaust fan to keep air flow up. I’ve been struggling keeping the humidity around 50% without misting so any help would be really appreciated. Both plants grew about 4-6 inches this week which was just crazy. Excited moving forward, gonna be changing the light cycle to 12/12 this week to start flower. Just need to figure out how to keep the humidity from dropping too low. It’s been very dry recently so hopefully the outside air gets more humid.

Hey everyone. I’m having a little trouble keeping humidity up now that I’m in flower. Does anyone know how to keep the humidity in a tent up during flower without misting? Really don’t want to risk mold

@Athos: I believe he is trying to make sure his humidity doesn’t drop to low and stunt growth. His humidity without misting is typically at 27%. I think his general question should be is 27% too low and if so how does he raise it slightly without misting?

Switched the plants to flower this week and have noticed tons of growth since. Both plants have turned out to be female and are both producing pistils. Have run into a potential problem while defoliating I noticed a couple leaves on one stem that look like they were burnt almost. They weren’t bad but I haven’t noticed it anywhere else. I looked over a lot of the leaves with a healers loupe under 60x magnification and didn’t notice and insects, the leaves were also growing into the side of the tent so that might be what cause it but not too sure.

Week 8 of the grow and week 2 of flower now done. It’s growing perfect, the humidity has stayed between 39-52% and the temperature has been holding bteween 72-79 during the day. Noticed a bit of a problem which turned out to be nutrient lockout, haven’t had and problems since. Last week I noticed some damage on a couple of the leaves but that didn’t continue into this last week. Flushed both the plants with bushdoctor sledgehammer (2ml per gallon), because I measured the tds coming out of the runoff as 5400 ppm. Watered until it went to 300 and am gonna continue using nutrients as normal this week. Looking forward to the end! Can’t wait to smoke these buds!

Started getting nutrient lockout this week which caused my plant to get phosphorus and calcium deficiency. SO I flushed the plants with sledgehammer down to 200ppm, and am watering with 1/4 dose all nutrients listed.

Nearing the end now and it’s looking good. THe white widow developed nutrient lockout last week which caused a phosphorus and calcium deficiency, flushed and watered with a quarter recommended dose of big bloom and tiger bloom. I’ll increase bloom nutes if needed and water with calnesium If deficiency continues.

The white widow developed a pretty bad phosphorus deficiency after I flushed so I’m going to be switching from a half dose to full dose of my bloom nutes. Fruity pebbles is doing great, the bud isn’t as large as i was hoping but it should fatten a little over these last couple weeks. Noticing a lot of red hairs coming in so we’re getting close to the end

Going well. Looks like 40% of the pistils have gone orange, so I’m coming going to start flushing the white widow in a week. Already started flushing the fruity pebbles this past Sunday, and it looks like it will be read for harvest in a week. Faced lots of nutrient deficiency with the WW but none with the fruity pebbles. Increased nutrient dosage and noticed it getting better.

Finished harvesting the fruity pebbles completely and ended up with a dry weight of 15.1 ounces. I had trouble during drying and curing because of high humidity and a sudden onset of spider mites that caused me to rush the drying phase and end up getting mildew on the outside of some of the buds, I had to toss away all but 4 ounces which is still better than I expected originally. Also harvested the white widow, the buds are smelling very sweet and I’ll have to waiting and see how the drying and curing process goes. The fruity pebbles is ready to smoke and boy it packs a punch. Smooth smoke with a powerful full of you high. More updates on flavour and dry weight will come in about 2 weeks time. Ended with a dry weight for the white widow of 9oz. Buds were sativa and got a little airy when done drying but wow they packed a punch after curing was done. Pretty unpredictable effects with a mostly light euphoric uplifting high that also relaxed you. Probably gonna stick to mostly indica strains and have started my next grow, which is the strain Atomic by Bomb Seeds

@EmperorOfBud Hi there! Congrats on your first grow, you're doing great! There are a few things you can optimize. 1) Your light distance looks huge on the last pictures, you may want to decrease this distance in order to maximize the light efficiency. The hand-test is quite universal, if your hand - positioned at the top of the canopy - don't feel too hot, then you're good, if your hand burns, then your light will also burn your plant. 2) I think you're trying to apply a continuous pH level of 6.2, but your soil will react better if you change this level a bit at each watering session, within the 6.0 - 6.5 range. 3) Slow down on nutrients! If the infos onto your diary are correct, you're overfeeding your plants with 13ml of fertilizer per liter. 4) Are you really giving 2gals of water everyday? That's way too much, your soil needs to be on a wet/dry cycle, having a permanently wet soil results in root rot, slow growth, nutrients lockout... 5) Is your white fan blowing straightly onto the canopy? I have the same fan and I found it too violent for direct exposure, I usually tilt it to the roof, so it can create a breeze into the grow room, but not directly onto the plants, this gave me wind-stress in the past, plant's don't need wind, they just need a cool and continuous breeze. Hope this helps, I'll be around, keep us up-to-date so we can help you adjusting your parameters, and happy growing! 👊

Personal rule of thumb: if it looks like something's eating it, it probably is. That's a real distinct look. A lot of pests are super small and you can't always see them. I don't know if you already know the Grow Weed Easy or this article, but I always use this for diagnosis. I'd at least go through it and then look at the plants and go through it again. It's probably nothing as long as it doesn't keep happening (or get worse), but if it is a problem you want to nip it in the bud. By the time it looks like an actual problem, it may be too late. That said, I cannot ID that damage to your fans as being a bug, nor do I recall it from the guide. With pests, better safe than sorry is not just an idiom =) https://www.growweedeasy.com/marijuana-symptoms
EmperorOfBud
EmperorOfBudcommented7 years ago
@Jaindoh, all is going okay, looks like it was just a nutrient deficiency along with some weird new growth but the problem hasn’t shown up anywhere else and it’s gone so it looks like all is good. I do have a healers loupe that I used to look under the leaves and I didn’t notice any bug activity. I’ll make sure to look out for it though
Jaindoh
Jaindohcommented7 years ago
@Kindbudz, Yeah, it was just the way that you put it that made me feel like advising caution probably best. I see similar stuff from time to time, we have these not-ladybugs everywhere here and they never do enough damage to amount to anything but i figure thats what it is -- no clue if im right.
Kindbudz
Kindbudzcommented7 years ago
@Jaindoh, I personally think it is a deficiency as I have been walking him through this grow from day 1. He just got some nutrients in for the first time this week and hasn’t added any since the start of the grow. I believe he should experience normal growth from here on out.
