So welcome to Week 1- germination through until the end of Day 7. Same set up as always- 3x3 Gorilla Grow tent, 6" Hyper Exhaust Fan with speed controller, x2 Secret Jardin Monkey fans (one above the plants, one above the lights) and x2 Electric Sky 180’s for a total 360 watts. This is a passive air intake system supporting x4 five gallon fabric pots filled with a mixture of potting soil, Fox Farm Happy Frog potting soil and perlite. This is the 3rd and final grow using seeds from The Original Sensible Seeds Co. My last two grows on GD (Bruce Banner #3 and Zkittles Auto) have been genetics from this seed breeder and it’s been a bumpy ride. The Bruce Banner went to seed shortly after being moved outside and I had no idea why? Until the following grow- the Zkittles Auto! I found about a dozen male flowers in the lowest branches on 3 out of the four plants. I removed them, watched them like crazy and made it through to a successful harvest. I now believe that the same thing happened with the Bruce Banner but I missed the male flowers when I moved them outdoors :( So I’m now growing the 3rd and final batch of seeds from Original Sensible Seeds and we’ll all see what happens together! I planted 4 seeds in Jiffy peat pellets and germinated them in the tray provided with the Jiffy peat pellet starter kit. They were up/through the soil 4 days later and within hours transplanted into their final containers for this grow. At the end of Week 1- Day 7, they are doing great! I have only watered twice but I have a great schedule when using soil- I water every 4th day, working my way up from 1 litre to 3-4 litres per watering over a period of about 4-6 weeks. I have just kind of learned how to watch my plants and give them what they need- when they need it. Temperatures in the tent are nice and warm around 78-80 degrees but humidity is low. I struggle with this issue every winter but the only fix is a humidifier directly in the tent. The LED lights are about 3 feet above the pots and the seedlings don’t seem to be stretching. I also have a Monkey fan oscillating just above the top of the pots and constantly moving all 4 of these plants. I am hoping that this is an easy grow producing a big batch of high quality old school Skunk! Cheers until next week. 🙏

So, it’s the end of Week 2 and all four of the Original Sensible Seeds Skunk Auto’s are doing great! I am watering every 4th day- air bubbled tap water at a PH of 6.0. They are receiving 0.7-1 litre per watering and I focus the water in a circular pattern around the base of the plant to ensure that the roots are thoroughly soaked. That’s about it! I turn the plants daily if needed to make sure that they are growing nice and straight up. Other than checking in on them everyday, this is a super easy way to grow! I’m slowly perfecting a grow technique that’s perfect for busy people that don’t have a-lot of time but want to grow their own high quality bud. Thanks for stopping by and I’ll update again soon with Week 3. Cheers! 😎

Week 3, Day 21 for the Original Sensible Seeds Skunk Auto’s and all is well! I’ve increased the water to 1.5 litres at the start of Week 3 and I will continue watering every 4th day. The tallest plant is 8" and was topped on Day 21. Temperatures continue to be nice and warm around 78 degrees while humidity remains super low 😢 Until next time... happy growing everyone!

Week 4 is over and these ladies are doing great! The tallest plant is 18" and recovering well after being topped at the end of Week 3. The remaining 3 plants are 10-12" respectively and bushy! I will not be topping these one’s as they are just too short. I have had to tuck leaves almost daily with the shorter plants in an effort to expose the branch tips. Usually I would stake out these lower branches allowing more light into the lower canopy but the branches are just too short! I started out the beginning of Week 4 with an increase in water from 1.5 litres to 2.1 litres/every forth day. But these ladies have been thirsty so by the end of Week 4/start of Week 5- I’ve increased to 2.8-3 litres/every 4th day. Temperatures have been steady and humidity is still low. Until next week, happy growing and stay safe during this last bit of Covid. Cheers! 😷

Week 5, Day 35 and the Original Sensible Seeds Auto Skunk are moving into flower. The tallest plant is now 26" and the shorter one’s are 16-18". I gave them a micro shot of Flora Nova grow 1-part liquid fertilizer and they responded almost immediately! The large fan leaves on the tallest plant are up as if she’s praying and the shorter one’s appear revitalized and thriving! I followed the General Hydroponics guide for the early growth stage which recommends 1.5 mls/litre. I’m using 4 litre jugs so that’s 5 mls/gallon- way too much for tiny autoflowers like these. I quarter the dose for the initial feeding (1.25 mls/gallon) and then continue to feed at half strength for the remainder of the grow (2.5 mls/gallon). It seems like an insignificant amount of fertilizer but a little goes a long way with a small autoflowering strain such as these. Still watering every 4th day and it’s 2.8-3 litres each time. So far, so good! Until next week, cheers! 😺

The four Original Sensible Seeds Autoflowering Skunk are at the end of Week 6, Day 42. The tallest plant is 30", the second tallest is 26" and the shorter two plants are 21 and 22" respectively. The second tallest plant has been the slowest to change over to flower but she’s almost there now. The other three are budding beautifully and already producing some serious resin! Upon opening the tent- I am greeted with a sweet, skunky blast of scent that has me excited for harvest. I am fertilizing once a week as indicated on the bottle with Flora Nova one-part liquid fertilizer and this week I gave them their first shot of Bloom. I am using a tiny amount at 2 mls/gallon but these are small plants so they really don’t need much to thrive! Still watering every 4th day and it’s 3 litres per feeding or .75 of a litre per day. Otherwise, all is well and these plants should be on cruise control through until the end. Thanks for checking in and I’ll update again next week. 🙏

I can’t believe it’s already the end of Week 7, Day 49. All four of the O.S.S Autoflowering Skunk are doing great! The shortest plant who was also the last to flower too, has now caught up to and slightly surpassed the tallest plant at 30.5". I am still watering every 4th day, about 3 litres or .75 of a litre per day. All four plants are being fertilized once a week now and this feeding was 2 mls/gallon of G.H Flora Nova Bloom- same as the week prior. Did some minor defoliation by removing the largest, oldest fan leaves on the two tallest plants. Nothing more to report for now so until next week- cheers and happy growing! 😷

End of week 8, cruise control for these ladies, some minor defoliation but nothing else. This is a very easy strain to grow and I would highly recommend it for new/novice growers. Still watering every 4th day and feeding once per week. So, 3 litres of air bubbled tap water at a PH of around 6.0 for each plant every 4th day and 2 mls/gallon of bloom fertilizer once per week. Final feeding will be soon and the flush will begin in preparation for harvest. Loads of resin with this strain and it would be great for hash, rosin, etc. But I’m just gonna enjoy the Original Sensible Seeds Skunk Auto the old sckool way- smoking buds! Almost there... until next time. 🙏

End of Week 9, Day 63 and it’s almost there now. According to the Original Sensible Seeds Co.- this is a 60-65 day strain but my ladies aren’t quite ready yet. 50/50 cloudy/clear on 80% of the trichomes with clear on the remaining 20% and no amber yet. Final feeding for 3 out of the 4 plants early in Week 9 and it’s flush time for them. The slowest but tallest/biggest plant (in photos above it’s the back left plant) is about a week behind the others so it will be fed once more in Week 10. Minor defoliation as needed and that’s about it! The humidity is up to 30-35% and I’m keeping temperatures around 76-78 degrees for the remainder of flower. Thanks for checking in, almost there now, until next week- happy growing everyone!

It’s the end of Week 10 and one of the four Original Sensible Seeds Auto Skunk is ready for harvest! The other three which include the largest plant in the back left and the two smaller ones out front have a little more time to go. Final feeding for the largest and slowest of the ladies (back left in photos) early in Week 10 and then it’s nothing but plain, air bubbled tap water from here until harvest. Defoliation as needed and the smell in the tent and throughout the house is intense! Not as much bud as I’d hoped for but quality smoke for sure. Will update with harvest pics etc next week, thanks for stopping by! 🙏

First off, a big thank you to The Original Sensible Seeds Company for the opportunity to grow and showcase your genetics- the good, the bad and the ugly. Three different strains, three different results but only one successful harvest- the Zkittles Auto. Unfortunately the Skunk Auto developed male/hermie flowers during the final weeks of flower, I missed them and pollination occurred. I first noticed that the buds had stopped swelling and then during harvest discovered that each and every calylx was developing a tiny seed. Huge bummer. All in all, I would not recommend purchasing seeds from The Original Sensible Seeds Company due to a lack of stability in their genetics. If you can get them for free then give them a try. But if you have to pay for them- invest your money elsewhere in a more established, reputable seed breeder.
