Again, not much to say about this week. I just let them be to grow and they did just that. Lst has to be the best and easiest training technique you could do. I don't know how much the FIMing helped but I think next grow I'll try topping instead. Kicking into flower on the 14th with 24 hours of darkness going into 12-12. Wish they could get bigger but I gotta get em done in a timeframe.

Grow Questions

As you can see in the pictures of my diary, the first leaves to grow out are crinkling and curling down. There was some spotting so I thought that this was due to a calcium deficiency but a second opinion would be great. Spotting could be from burn spots from misting water too.

When the the serrated edges of marijuana leaves curls or tipped up like that, it's often a sign of temperature stress, over watering/root problems or extreme humidity levels. When the problem is low humidity, the leaf will also often fold in the middle, like a taco. What's your temperature in your grow area? Is there a hot spot around these plants from the grow light? If this is happening to the plants which are closest to your grow light, that's a hint that the problem may be temperature related. If your light is simply too close, you can move the bulb further away from these plants and this issue may resolve itself. However, these leaves are showing symptoms of heat stress, without light stress (burning / spotting), so it's more likely that the light is a good distance away and the heat just isn't being controlled properly. If plants are also droopy, it's likely you're dealing with watering or root problems. Good ventilation and an exhaust fan will go a long way towards preventing all these problems. If the whole grow area is too hot with stagnant air, you will want to consider venting out all that extra heat. Having good air movement, like a small fan in your grow tent blowing over the tops of your plants, can help prevent hot spots from forming directly under your grow lights. In general, if it's too hot for you to be comfortable, it's too hot for your plants

Think she's gonna recover. Vegging plants are pretty hearty. First grows are scary, let us know if you have any other questions =) Liked and followed!

@Jaindoh, thank you! I'll give it some more time to recover

@ballzzz420,I'd wait until it has resumed rapid growth before beginning pruning as normal =)

@Jaindoh, appreciate it a ton! Do you think I should cut off the yellowed leaves? I read to not cut them unless they are at least 70% dead but I feel like they don't have any use..

Perhaps some root problems? I've seen plants that are overwatered droop but also underwatered, I know the Fox Farm brand carries a few nute/supplements that can give your plant a general boost "kelp me kelp you" and also some that can flush away any sodium buildup around the roots " bush doctor Boomerang" I've also read that wind burn can cause irritations like what you've described. Are any of your leaves reddish or purple or is that just your lighting?

@Experimentgreen, it was definitely the roots! Really appreciate it, there could've been other factors but I found a ton of dead roots when transplanting and they couldn't grow cause of compacted soil. :/ See my new week 3 post about it. And I waited to reply cause I wanted to double check, but the none of the leaves are actually purple or red, but the stems out to my biggest leaves have a reddish tint in normal lighting. Hope that's not bad..

Hey sage I was looking at your grow and you had said you had rotten roots...but it looks like you're using fabric grow bags? Aren't those supposed to air prune your roots to avoid rot and other root problems? Yikes if so you should give some negative feedback on those bags. Or up the air flow in the room if you don't have a few fans and such blow g things around in there. I'm so glad you found out the problem, I really hope it gets better, try the boomerang if you get a chance. Maybe it'll help get things heAlthy again. Happy growing!

@Experimentgreen I had the rotten root issue due to the bad plastic pots (check out week 2 pictures). The fabric ones seem to be a huge improvement! But I did add another fan inside the tent to improve airflow.

Oh also seedlings need very little in the first couple weeks, both nutrient and watering wise. My mama happened to keep watering a little seedling like it was a full grown plant and Whoowee did the over water make it sag and droop and just the most pitiful looking plant. Lol
