beaglecityusa Continued with mainlining with another round of topping and tying down. Topped at 3rd node on each new main. Fucked up when tying down and snapped off 1 of the 4 mains. Hadn’t started using silica yet so the branches weren’t as hardy as they could’ve been
beaglecityusa Actually week 1 of flower but the website is messing up and won’t let me set it as week 1 lol. I ended up overfeeding with insect frass when flipping (top dressed with nearly 25x as much as I should have by accident). Although insect frass won’t cause any major nutrient burn issues due to it being rather inert, I believe the chitin that’s found within it was ultimately the trigger that caused this plant to start producing seeds in week 4 of flower (more on that later)

beaglecityusa This week I started finding seeds forming on some of the mains. I did a thorough check and lo and behold the plant had hermed. Because it’s such a dense canopy with tight internodal spacing, I missed some male parts and didn’t find them until after they’d burst. I believe this is due to the accidental overdosing with the Black Soldier Fly frass, which is full of chitin. I didn’t have any light leaks or issues with environment/pH, and since the genetics are supposedly pretty solid I don’t know what else could’ve caused this. I began picking off as many seeds as I could and hoped for the best, but was feeling pretty defeated at this point in my first indoor grow

beaglecityusa Week 7 of flower. No new seeds were found and she seemed to start really putting work into the buds. Little bit of frost production but nothing too wild just yet. Week 7 since flipping to 12/12 and the terps are insane. Smell is definitely noticeable but no complaining here lol

beaglecityusa Week 8 of flower. Added some straw to help retain moisture and started using some stuff I’ll be using next round (fish sh!t, mammoth p, og Biowar root pack, malted barley). Plant seems to be responding well and the terpene production is out of this world. Only complaint is I should have let her stretch a little more before flipping, only expecting to get 1.5-2oz dry with 150w and a 2x2 space so I know I can do better.

beaglecityusa Week 9 since flip and the purples/fade are starting to appear!
This was my first indoor grow and my first time starting from seed. Although these were feminizes seeds from a respected breeder, the plant hermed on me during weeks 3-4 of flower. I was diligent in picking off seeds as I saw them, but at that point I was pretty down and out. I checked to make sure it wasn’t light leaks that caused it to herm, so at this point all I can think is the stress of mainlining/manifolding is too much for this strain. Also just a heads up, anything based on Trainwreck has a higher propensity to turn herm but I didn’t know that until it was too late. If I grew this strain again I would only top a few times and would go light on nutes, as she still had some fairly dark green foliage even after 66 days in flower (usually finishes 45-63 days according to HSC).

beaglecityusa I pretty much summed up everything above. I don’t plan on growing this strain again (or any HSC seeds for that matter) due to the high herm rates I and others I’ve talked to have experienced. Someone even said that all 5 seeds they popped up of this strain hermed on them, which is just unacceptable when buying seeds at this price point. I expected better from a respected breeder but will stick to tried and true strains from other breeders from now on. Very happy with GrowDiaries and will continue to log my future grows here
Interesting about the train wreck
I have some pineapple upside down cakes in flower and had to move one out side due to herm
Topped only once
Other 2 are still good so far.
Awesome grow man 👍👍
