Had some 6400k HO T5's about 5 inches off the plant during early veg, she didn't like it at all. Leaves yellowed from the heat. I Swapped out the T5's for my viparspectra P2500 at about 25% power at about 18" over her. She was being vegged with 3 other girls. She also suffered from nitrogen toxicity within the first 2 weeks of veg, as I over did it on nutes (forgetting that the soil was already hot) so her first few true leaves were dark and clawed. A ph issue also occured as my ph pen was in storage for a few weeks between moves and needed recalibration. That could of also lead to the yellowing of the leaves.. She is in a 3 gallon fabric pot folded down to the handle stitching; so she is in about 2.5 gallons of soil. The medium is Fox farms ocean forest. She has since bounced back after the corrections were made. The "veggie" fox farms was also administered as a dry amendment on top of the soil 1 time a week...I used the small scoop and spread it around the outer portion of the soil bed by hand.
She had bounced back nicely from the previous 2 weeks of issues. The new growth is looking as it should and she is showing sex. Preflower site development also showing. At this point I figured she was going to be a taller girl, her node structure is indicating a nice vertical stature. She has also adjusted very well to the viparspectra p2500 @25%. She will be flipped to flower next week and is showing me a good recovery.
She has been transferred to the larger flower tent and now is on a 12/12 light cycle. It is her with 3 other girls in a greenhouser 60"x32"x80"all around the same maturity. She is now under the Sayon SH4000 at full tilt 410 watts from the wall. The light cycle was somewhat reversed, as I now have her lights off at day (6:30am) and on at night (6:30pm). Goal was to use the electric at non prime hours and be able to tend to them between work hours. So going into flower for the first day, she had a longer light period prior to rolling her into the first light flip.
I defoliated her towards the middle of the week, getting rid of all the damaged leaves from the veg mishaps. She is untrained and now enjoys a oscillating tower fan to help strengthen her stems & branching. She is nice and tall, and them fan leaves are luscious green and straight up pray to the sayhon sh4000....perking up before the light even cuts on. She is also introduced to Tps bloom at 2ml a gallon. She is doing great.
The stretch was insane this week...bullets are forming and she is about 3 feet tall. Did some leaf tucking and towards the end of the week I defoliated all the large fan leaves. She is drinking half a gallon a day. Feeding every watering....using the flower fox farm 2 part as a dry amendment once a week. Blackstrap molasses was introduced this week as well. She prays hard to the light, so far so good. Let's see how she does.
Well, the Grandaddy black hermed on me in the beginning of week 7 flower. Separated her immediately and did a flush bringing the ppm down from over 2k to around 500. Two days later she was harvested. A little blown she didn't finish up how I wanted her to. 2 more weeks she would of been ready. Trichomes were 5% amber 70% cloudy 25% clear.
The Grandaddy black started shooting nanners late flower around day 43. So after careful consideration, I decided to harvest her early. The buds were dense, but on the smaller side because she didn't reach final swell out. Bud density and trichome coverage was excellent. I pulled out maybe 30 nanners, mostly near the main cola and near teir budsites. The lowers were dense as well. After a 3 day dry with a wet trim and detail trim towards the end, her dry smoke was rather smooth with a deep grape under tone with a more prevelant earthy/ herbal terpine. Pine is initial on the inhale as well.
The high is definitely leaning heavily towards indica, but the 30 minutes or so are a little uplifting, then 3 hours in you wanna lay down and take a nap. Definitely a night smoke. I saved the sugar leaves and after a Decarb and a 5 hour coconut oil infusion on a double boiler, she made some pretty good brownies. Wish I could of got more than 2 ounces, but it's cool. I believe I ran her too hard on bloom nutes, which may have caused the herming.
Sticky harvest, had to run the clippers through a steel wool pad basically after every cola. She yielded 59 grams, little over 2 ounces. Smoke is smooth piney with a grape understond sweetness. Unfortunate she came down 3 weeks early, but the smoke is still pretty good. Got her in cure now.
