I'm dealing with really crappy weather. Humidity has been extremely low. Temps is running around 70 degrees and humidity around 50% in the tent I hope to get the humidity under control with the Humidifier I added. I had really good Success with using the entire line of Heavy 16 Nutes and am going to use them again. I'm using Roots Organics (original) soil this time.
The weather has been really dry, I'm still having a lot of trouble with humidity, the humidifier I added is helping a little bit.
The Cherries Jubilee dropped its seed and is showing its cotyledon. The Cherry Lime Soda is struggling for some reason, kind of frustrating considering it's the more expensive seed.
I finally got my temp and humidity under better control. The Cherry Lime Soda had a major case of "Helmet Head" and the seed would not drop off the seedling even after dripping water on the seed multiple times per day. I considered culling it but decided to try and bury it to see if the shell would pop off when it emerged from the soil.
The seedling finally emerged from the soil and the seed dropped off but it appears that the cotyledon are a bit damaged and the sprouting leaves are really tiny. I'm going to let this go a few more weeks to see if it gets any better, If not I may cull it and just grow one larger/wider plant.
I started using Heavy16's Foliar spray on the Cherries Jubilee and it is thriving.
Good and bad this week.
Bad news is that the Cherries Jubilee is looking pretty droopy. I'm thinking it's either one of 2 things, I'm either over watering or the plant was root bound. I decided to transplant the Cherries Jubilee to a 5 gallon pot, when I pulled out the plant from the cup the roots were already all the way up to the edge of the cup and starting to spiral, also from my (very little) experience I noticed that If I move to a larger pot it makes it a bit more difficult for me to overwater because I try to water around my plants as opposed to directly on the base/stalk. I'm using the full Heavy16 (diluted appropriately according to the feed chart for seedlings/cuts) and things were looking great for the CJ up until a few days ago. I'm going to lighten up on the watering and stop using the foliar until I can hopefully get rid of this droop.
Good news is that the Cherry Lime Soda finally looks like its coming through and finally starting to resemble a healthy seedling (even though its a few weeks behind schedule)
All in all things are looking OK. I hope to get this droop under control in the coming week. I'm also using Roots Organics soil this time around (I was using FF OF before) and am having a somewhat difficult time figuring out how well it retains moisture. My goal is to get this figured out in the coming week.
Things are looking much better this week. I had initially thought that I was overwatering, it now appears to me that what's actually going on is nitrogen toxicity. I didn't really read into Roots Organics and come to find out that there's a decent amount of bat guano in it (Which is a pretty quick acting source of Nitrogen). I discontinued using Heavy 16 nutes/foliar for the time being and switched to plain RO water PH'd to 6.8 with a little bit of ORCA for good measure. I will probably hold off on the Heavy16 for the next couple weeks.
The Cherries Jubilee is recovering well from its nitrogen toxicity and I topped a few days ago and am starting to see new growth.
The Cherry lime soda is still a runt due to it's severe "helmet head" a few weeks ago, but im glad to see it plugging along. I'm a little disappointed since this is the more expensive seed and I will unfortunately end up with a smaller plant and lower ending yield then expected.
Kind of screwed up today.
I restarted using Heavy16 (at half strength this time) along with the Heavy16 Foliar, and things are looking great.
I topped the Cherries Jubilee this week and started tying it down to start lst and considering giving mainlining a try. Today while readjusting the hooks I heard a slight snap but wasnt to worried about it (thinking it'd be similar to super cropping). I came back later in the day and realized I had completely broken off a branch and it was laying in the soil wilting away. I stuck the broken branch in some soil and trimmed off all the wilted leaves (I'm not really expecting any growth or for it to work but I figure I might as well try).
The Cherry Lime Soda is looking OK (even though its a few weeks behind.) I topped it yesterday and am starting to see new growth.
I'm thinking I'll throw up a scrog net in a couple weeks.
I made the tough decision of culling the 3 gallon Cherry Lime Soda. It just didn't make sense to me to have a scraggly little runt plant that has nitrogen toxicity taking up space in my tent and having to feed it differently.
I've instead decided to just grow the 5 gal Cherries Jubilee. I cut off a piece of the culled Cherry lime soda and stuck it in a small pot, if it starts growing I'm going to give it to a family member who grows outdoors.
I feel like I've had lots of issues so far this grow with the broken branch last week and the ongoing nitrogen toxicity.
I put up a scrog net to start training this plant to fill the canopy and hopefully things start moving a bit more smoothly from here on out.
I won't be using roots organics again (at least not the Original mix), not that its a bad soil/coco but it just doesn't fit the feeding/watering routine that I'm used to, it seems like it's strongly ammended and I'm used to and prefer to use bottled nutes.
Day 3 of flower Things have been looking good. The foliage is looking healthy and green. I supercropped one of the branches to make the canopy a bit more even. Early on in the grow I accidentally cut nearly the entire top off the main leading stem and it never grew back, so I'm thinking the technique I'm using is unintentionally kind of like mainlining. I ended up flipping on day 47. I initially wanted to wait a bit longer but the height is decent enough and im looking forward to this grow being over with since it's been a bit problematic. My goal in the coming week is to get my humidity down a bit by plugging in a dehumidifier.
I was able to get my humidity down using a dehumidifier. I defoliated a few days ago and am going to say I'm done defoliating (unless some drastic changes). This grow has been a bit problematic, I'm looking forward to getting over with and starting fresh, I'll be happy if I yield an oz. I started a different strain in rockwool last week in a different tent. I plan on using it as a mother and taking clones from it.
Things have been looking pretty good. I added a second trellis net to support the buds once they start swelling up.The growth on this plant has exploded, I'm glad I flipped when I did otherwise I probably would've run out of room. I've been kind of fudging the height and guessing. I'm going to estimate that the height is some where close to 3 feet. I wish I had done a better job of traing this plant there are definitely bud sights that are higher/closer to the light than others. I defoliated pretty heavily a few weeks ago and am considering doing it again. The Calyxes/bracts are starting to swell up and I'm thinking I might start seeing some trichomes forming in the next week or so.
Kind of a stressful week. I'm really running out of height. I have my light on adjustable ratchet hangers and they are now completely bottomed out, I had to add zipties to raise up the light in order to get a little extra height. I'm starting to see the first sign of trichomes on the sugar leaves.
I noticed the leaves and tops of the main colas closest to the light getting a little yellow which I'm thinking was a sign of heat stress, the yellowing at the top has me a bit paranoid and I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it didnt herm and these aren't nanners/bannanas.
Things are looking good for the most part except for the fact that im battling fungus gnats, I've never really had this issue before. My watering habits haven't changed and it seems like they kinda just popped outta no where, I noticed because I always hang yellow sticky card. I dumped some beneficial nematodes in the soil a few days ago, I also covered the soil with sand to see if it would help, I have some BT on hand in case things get any worse.
I noticed the visible trichomes making their appearance a few days ago and the buds are starting to stack, hopefully I end up with a few decent sized colas.
Things have been good. Buds are continuing to stack. Things are getting a little smellier but the smell on this plant isn't to offensive (to a bystander or someone in the same room) the smell is mostly floral with a slight bit of funk to it.
I think I have about 3-4 weeks left. Buds arent looking as frosty as I'd like them to be, hopefully that will change in the coming weeks temp and humidity have been good. All down hill from here (hopefully). I just really hope I see some more trichomes forming soon.
Looking good. Buds are finally starting to frost up a bit more. Nugs are about the size of a US 1 dollar bill. The breeder reccomended flowering/harvest time is in about two weeks I feel like it will be closer to 3 weeks. I've slowed down the feeding schedule. Next week I'll do week 8 feeding and by my estimation I may have to do it twice to continue growth and bud development followed by the flush week.
I defoliated a bit a few days ago. I started week 8 nutes today. I'm thinking I might need to do it again next week before I do my final flush.
The weather has been getting more humid as we head into summer. I've for the most part had everything under control until today the humidity got up towards 65% for a few hours. I got an alert and immediately ran to turn on a dehumidifier and got the RH down pretty quickly. I really hope this didn't screw anything up.
This grow has been pretty frustraiting.
Temps and humidity have been OK. I posted pics in another forum and someone called me out and said it looked like my grow was foxtailing and revegging and it got me pretty paranoid.
There is definitely some strange bud structure with a weird bubbly and stacking look to them, after googling pictures of the stain it appears that this strain does seem to have this same weird looking bubbly/foxtail bud structure (maybe genetics?). In regards to revegging I've never seen a plant unintentionally reveg so I really dont know how to tell.
I'm completely maxed out on height, I even had to use zipties to bring my LED as close to the tent's ceiling as possible, so the weird bud structure could be a result of being to close to the light.
I retaped all the holes in my tent to make sure I don't have a light leak.
I was so paranoid that the plant was revegging I almost chopped last night. I have since calmed down a bit and decided to go ahead and wait another week.
Pistil didn't start changing color until earlier in the week (which made me even more paranoid about a potential light leak) but the trichs are starting to look mostly cloudy. I'm going to start my final flush this week.
Coming close to the finish line.
Keeping my fingers crossed 🤞
I had a few issues with this strain the worst one being foxtailing. It didn't effect the overall outcome but some buds are a little airy. This strain didn't get very smelly, which in my case is good, the last thing I need is my nosy neighbors finding out. Not a bad/difficult strain to grow at all, but I probably wouldn't grow it again.
