Well here we go into Week Six / Week One of Flower! 👏😎 With Six weeks of initial growth behind her now, the Dutch Passion Auto Power Power Plant has had a few issues along the way, most recently she was severely lifeless looking and very droopy, which now has been resolved!
Thank you for following along this journey with me, growing these beautiful cultivars is always better with someone to share the experience with....come along and enjoy! 😎🙏
~Grown 100% organic in a 10g fabric pot with Mother Earth 70/30 Coco/Perlite medium amended with 2tbs/g Down To Earth 4-4-4 / 2 cups/g Earthworm Castings / 1tbs/g Dr. Earth Flower Girl 2-8-4 and 1tbs/g Dr. Earth Bat Guano.
~24hr light cycle during germination / 19/5 light cycle for Veg & Flower
~Straight water ph'd @ 6.2-6.8 when needed, top dressed every 3-4 weeks and weekly Compost Tea's.
4/5- Week Six and OMG she has made sure that my work's been cut out for me! My girl has been a fussy thing for the last couple of weeks and up until now I've been hitting the wall trying to get her ass dialed in! She's showing signs now of flowering ( 4/2 = Day 1F) so it's even more important to get her on point!
She's been getting extremely droopy looking like she's overwatered, but checking the medium with a moisture meter shows the top 1/3 fairly dry, the middle 1/3 moist and the bottom 1/3 still wet. I went ahead and watered her with 0.25g of straight de-chlorinated water ph'd to 6.4 @ 70 degrees, and two hours later she had started to visibly perk up so I gave her another 0.25g and three hours later she continued to improve.
The only thing I can figure is that her roots may not have reached into the bottom half of her 10g pot and, as a result, just because the medium is wet at the lower portion of the pot, the roots can't reach it. As a result, she feels heavy but actually needs water. It's either that OR, with 'nighttime' temp's dropping into the mid 60's maybe her roots are getting chilled causing the droopy condition....smh!
I've switched up her feeding slightly by now supplementing her water once a week each with Unsulfured Molasses and Honey @ 2 tbsp/g and 2 tsp/g respectively. The Molasses gives a boost to the microbial colony as well as being loaded with essential minerals and micro-nutrients that the plant loves. The Honey really promotes healthy root systems and is a natural anti-bacterial which I've used for decades with tremendous success!
I now have the HLG 650R (hung 38" above canopy) pulling 520w at the wall and will wait to give her max power when I start adding UVA once she's into flower. Adding UVA for 4 hours in the middle of the light cycle for the last 2-3 weeks of flower really turns on the trichome production and, although I can't prove it yet, has possible positive effects on the terpenes as well.
Environmentally, the 'daytime' temp's are a steady 77.4 degrees F and drop to 65 degrees F during the 'nighttime'. The RH is staying around 42-46% which I'd like to be higher to lower the VPD but for the moment she appears healthy so I'll let it ride! I also put the riser back under her pot to ensure that the bottom of the fabric pot gets adequate airflow preventing a possible anaerobic condition from the roots not getting any oxygen, therefore killing them (it only takes 20 minutes of oxygen deprivation to kill cannabis roots! Keep this in mind when watering...don't drown your roots!). 😎👍
4/7- Well, with a good watering the Auto Power Plant has perked up and is looking a whole lot better than she did two days ago. She's not 100% yet but I'm relieved to finally figure her out! I've noticed that she really perks up a few hours after the lights come on then, twords the latter part of the light cycle she gets very droopy until the next day...I'm guessing this is how this girl rolls!
4/9- I went through and defoliated her again today, removing all the little immature shoots down low and any shade leaves blocking light penetration into the center of her canopy. My god she's constantly putting out new growth and I have to really stay on top of her so she doesn't get away from me and choke herself out again!
She got watered yesterday with .75g dechlorinated water with Fox Farms Big Bloom and Kelp Me Kelp You added @ 3 tsp/g and 0.5 tsp/g respectively, then ph'd to 6.4 - 1.0 EC @ 71 deg.
The HLG 650R (hung 38" above canopy) is now cranked up to max power and is pulling 660w at the wall and has tent temp's running around 81 deg. during the light cycle. After she's a few weeks into flower I'll start adding supplemental UVA for four hours during the middle of the light cycle.
The co2 controller is set to 1000 ppm's with a 100 ppm swing which is keeping tent levels at the canopy around 700-850 ppm's due to having the AC Infinity Cloudline T6 controller set to 'Auto High Temp' of 78 deg. which has the exhaust fan speed running pretty high which sucks out the co2. It's always a tradeoff of running the tent with positive pressure and high co2 levels, with higher temp's... Or run negative pressure with nominal co2 levels and ideal temp's which uses more co2 and conversely factors into the operational costs.
4/11- Week two of flower has come and gone! The Dutch Passion Auto Power Power Plant still has a way to go as she's almost 50 days old now and will go 80-85 days...maybe a bit longer, we'll have to wait and see!.
I watered her with 0.75g of dechlorinated water with Fox Farms Open Sesame added @ 0.5 tsp/g, then ph'd to 6.5 @ 72 deg. 0.8 EC
She is continuing to improve in her overall health, vigor and color, although I have noticed that she tends to get droopy towards the latter part of the light cycle which she stays in until the lights have been on for a couple of hours, then she perks right up...strange! 😕
Well, there goes this week...next week will usher in Week Three of flower and she's on a pace to really turn out to be something special!
~Thank you so much for following along so far! I hope you'll continue to follow my journey as things will be getting more exciting as the next weeks approach as this girl continues in flower mode and hopefully remains issue free!... Grow Strong! 😎🙏~
Sure your scale is calibrated. I grown my fair share of autos to say that 240 is inaccurate. Beautiful plant and buds. Just scratching my head on final weight of bud is all.
@Roberts, 😁 You need to grow bigger Auto's my friend! Yes, the scale is accurate. Check out my Seedsman Gelato OG Auto diary...250g yield. There's a lot of autoflower genetics that produce smaller plants with smaller yields, but there's also genetics that when grown in the right conditions become monsters! Happy growing and stay Blessed! 😎🤙🏼
@Inganjawetrust, IDK brother...She's been a handful trying to get her 'dialed in'! She reminds me of a DP Meringue photo I ran. They both were very droopy no matter what I did, but as the Meringue matured she became one of my all time favorite cultivars! I can only hope and pray that this lady does the same! If she does finally get her stuff together, with her size, she'll be epic! Thanks for the compliment! 😎🙏
