Planted on 17th April. I've finally given in and bought a tent to go with the newly purchased LED lights πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚. I figured the tent will stop my kittens trying to kill the plant n stop neighbours n passers by seeing lights 😁

Hello my dear fellow herbie enthusiasts. I was pondering something . Has anyone used both HID lights and LED lights together?? . If so, what effect did it have on your grow ? . I have a curious mind lol . Many thanks in advance

Hi there! Yes it works! Actually plants love mixed spectrums, HID provides intensity and LED gives a great spectrum, from what I've seen and experienced mixing both together is always a success! I'll be around, keep us up-to-date and happy growing!

Hi fellow herbalists, my ladies are so tall there's not enough distance between them n the HID lights. Could I swap the HID lights to 1000w LED lights without screwing my grow up ???? Thankyou in advance for advice ❀️❀️

Hi @MissFlowerPower! Yes I think so, since your LED light has probably a better spectrum for blooming/flowering while producing less heat, but be careful: 1000W is powerful, you may need a reasonable distance between the LED and the plants too, to avoid light bleach or heat stress. You may also want to consider HST/SuperCropping, or just tie them down away from the light as much as you can if possible. Keep us up-to-date and happy growing! πŸ‘Š

Your girl is looking quite lush today. LST is spreading out the canopy nicely. You might want to defol a bit. Give some of the those secondary bud sites some more light.
Quexos
Quexoscommented6 years ago
@MissFlowerPower420, I usually remove lower leaves that have long stems. They use up a lot of energy that should go towards the buds. I will also defol leaves in the upper canopy if they are shading the light meant for buds lower in the canopy. Its really up to your discretion. If you think the leaves serve no purpose, or are shading buds, then off with their heads!

MissFlowerPower420commented6 years ago
@Quexos, thanks for advice . Is it just the big fan leaves I remove ?

You are definitely showing preflowering. You have the stretch and the pistil-like growth at the nodes. A hermie would look a lot different. The growth at the nodes would be more like a banana so it can house a seed. It can take several weeks for a plant to show her true colors. Just because we change the light schedule, doesn't mean the plant will automatically flip. My last grow took about 3 weeks to really show her flowers. Prior to that it was just preflowering. Just be patient.

@Quexos, thanks for putting my mind at ease . I was getting a bit panicky. Her clones which I will update later have started flowering way more than the mother plant

Is she showing preflowering yet? You will start seeing more stretch, usually after the preflowering becomes prominent. You can still do some LST to get some more light to the lower bud sites. She looks nice and healthy! She will produce pungent buds I'm sure.

Quexoscommented7 years ago
@MissFlowerPower420, I use my phone camera as well. I can't get any pictures showing detail. I tried to take a few pictures of the preflowering pistils, but I can't get it to focus close enough. You got it though, so no worries. You can always look them up on the dozens of cannabis sites on the net.

MissFlowerPower420commented7 years ago
@Quexos, from that I'd say they are defo kicking into gear then . Will try take better pics but my phone cam is crap
Quexos
Quexoscommented7 years ago
@MissFlowerPower420, Stretch is part of the early flowering stage. You should see some pistil-like structures at the nodes as well.

Your girls really took off! It was new lights. Did you invest in a carbon filter when you bought your new tent and lights! If those plants are that fragrant now, you might not be able to open the front door of your house! Once your girls are used to the more intense lights, you can kick the lights up to max. As long as you keep them a safe distance, they will love the extra light in the morning and evening. Are you going to do any LST? Training the top branches will encourage the underneath growth and give you a lot more buds!
Quexos
Quexoscommented7 years ago
@MissFlowerPower420, Might I say, "Yuck!" I made a DIY carbon filter when I was using my spacebucket for a micro grow, but I don't know how to step it up to tent size. There are several micro grows on the Diaries. Do a search and use the keyword microgrow, or spacebucket. I'll bet they made an inline filter that will work for your purposes. They also make a gel that absorbs odor. We used it in the room where our dogs are kenneled at night. It worked really well, but my wife didn't like the replacement smell. I thought it smelled like the barbershops when I was a kid. LST is really easy. I usually do my training when my plant is thirsty. The branches are more pliable that way. If you accidentally break a branch, they will usually grow back even stronger as long as the break isn't too severe.
MissFlowerPower420
MissFlowerPower420commented7 years ago
@Quexos, no I didn't invest in carbon filter as lack of funds prevented this , I'm currently youtubing diy carbon filters but untill I sort something I am placing litter trays near door as they can get pretty pungent n distracts from weed smell brilliantly lolol .I'm going to take the plunge on training n see how I get on .

i think you use too many nutrients or the lamps are far. i use only 75 w led full spectrum and biomix,pk in bloom. i have some problems due to the less light but you need to change your set if you have this result. ps the flushing help in two week to eliminate the nutrients and a part of these are better absorbed.
