what you do to shape it should be all about the space it is filling -- about 75% in vege of what you want in bloom (dimensions make that equall out to about 1.8X the size in bloom and only a generalization, always adjust to plant's rate of growth and behaviour) So, if oy need more vertical shoots for your area you want to fill, defintiely top it or train it or do something that causes that end result. this may not be neccessary for marijuana, but you generall skip a node when you prune. After 2 nodes of auxiliary growth, i'll top the 3rd. then 2 more nodes of growth and ready to prune again, if needed. Thatis only a safe minimum... letting a few more grow out isn't soemthing to avoid.. but pruning too often will likely hurt it a bit. plus, it has a size limit relative to your lights and environment you provide. If you can optimally produce ~300 grams in a 3x3 area, growing the plant larger will often result in a lower yield of good nugs, even if it weighs out to the same or more. So, lots of variables to consider. if you need to fill a larger space, i'd train it out horizontally a bit until you top it. timing of the rest of the canopy may impact when you do this too... gotta keep it even.

I'd say let her stretch out a bit more before deciding to top. I waited and realized it wasn't necessary. I'm glad too case my canopy would be a mess. Check out my grow and see what I mean. Hope this helps! Happy growing!
