Making the switch from hydro to soil and I’m using a foxfarm happyfrog and ocean forest blend (about 50/50) and I’m looking for some advice on some nutrients to us throughout the process. Going to be running some autoflowers in 3-5g fabric pots. Any advice is welcome

Good morning @AlternateRick, I am a first time grower and as such please take what I say as personal experience and not expert advice. I have been using Fox Farm Ocean Forrest for my grow and alternating every second or third feed with Fox Farm nutrients (Big Bloom and Grow Big so far). As the soil has everything needed for the grow I've only been using a third of the recommended dosage for nutrients. My plants have been thriving with no issue and Im at the end of week 4. I'll update my diaries again on Tuesday but feel free to check them out to see for yourself. I'm using a Vivosun tent with Philzon 600W LED and just what I listed above for soil and nutrients. Fellow grower @GIG83III is using a similar setup with the same soil and nutrients if you'd like another comparison. This community has been fantastic so you will get the expert advice you are looking for. Good luck my friend. Hope this helps even a little.

I have used FFOF for years. By mixing it with Happy Frog, you will have created a super rich soil, that may burn seedlings. I cut my Ocean Forrest by a 3rd with Light Warrior. so it buffers that hot soil, while also making the soil a little looser. That soil can compact, especially with the loamy HF. Also, with mix of OF & HF, it will have so much micro-nutrients, you should not have to feed for well over 30 days. With some strains, that are sensitive to additional nutes, I have waited for over 6 weeks to start external feeding. BUT, this is just my opinion, and you may know more about using Happy Frog, than I.

I've been running happy frog with autoflower super soil concentrate (you can find it on amazon). For a 3 gal pot, I fill 1/3 with soil, then mix in 270g of autoflower concentrate, then fill your pot up with soil. After 5 or so weeks, you can top dress with a little more of the super soil. Happy growing!

I do believe they both have myco on it, so you may water with some molasses and fish fertilizer, to feed the soil 1 week before planting. Keep the soil wet like you would let it for a seed. A living soil only stay active while it's wet. Also i do believe they already have enough nute for the veg, so if you have stimulant fertilizer, it would be good to use, but not the base NPK. Also, there's no problem using chemical fertilizer on living soil, it doesn't kill the life on it, but you should use just some times, weak solutions. If you can, focus on making the soil alive, exactly the opposite as hydro require, putting organic based fertilizer or amendments . A living soil is the best place for a seed to be...
