Popped up around last week (week 4, monday). Prior to week 4, i had been watering with tap water, which in my area is pretty hard.(7.8+ pH) Been correcting pH to 6.8 with each watering since. (2 waterings since then.) Should i just continue feeding 6.8 pH water or add cal-mag?

Hi @RunWithIt! This is Calcium-related (not Mag). This deficiency is known to appear when the pH-range is wrong. Soil has the ability to buffer your pH and roots in soil will always find a way to handle nutrient intakes (unless intake pH is really out of the range). But the coco medium doesn't have this ability and needs the solution's pH to be buffered upstream. You must apply the ideal pH range for coco, which is 5.5~5.9. Never exceed 6.0, otherwise you will encounter deficiencies and rootzone issues. Now, as mention by others, "hard water" defines a water that already contains a few nutrients (so it has its own basis EC), we're not talking about pH here, everybody needs to pH-down its tap water, but some will have a 0.1 basis EC while others can have a 0.6 EC without adding anything --> this is "hard water". If your tap water's EC > 0.3 then you probably don't need to add Cal-Mag (we suppose this high basis EC is because of different minerals, including Cal&Mag, but the only way to truly ensure this would be to see a laboratory test for your tap water). If your tap water's EC < 0.3, go for it and add a slight doses of Cal-Mag each time you water. Hope this will help, keep us up-to-date and happy growing 👊

Hey you're getting a cal mag deficiency caused by lock out due to PH fluctuations, you're also likely to get other symptoms in the future if PH keeps changing. As you're using PH perfect nutrients, you shouldn't really have to toy with them that much. On the other hand you want your PH to be between 6 and 6.5 in soil - that should help the plants recover. You're actually doing pretty good, so just get on top of that and you'll be fine. If you can i would definitely go big on Cal Mag (especially for the Mag part during stretch) anyway there s never too much of the stuff going around. If you're in coco, you want to be adding a lot more than cal mag, try silicon and other supplements such as Mag-sulfur.... and finally... the secret no one will tell you : you need to add a chelation agent... try fluvic and hummic acid. In combination these will make your plants blow up if they have the root space to grow. good luck, hope this helps , dassit 🚀

drop your ph to 6.0 to 6.2 that will ensure uptake of calmag as stated above in coco calmag is a must my ph is always around 6 6.2 and never have any issues iv noticed your using pro mix soil which contains no nutrients I would increase your grow feed slightly and reduce the bloom feed and use calmag at 1ml per l untill things are better in soil it will take longer to recover u should notice a difference in a week or so you want your e.c around 1.0 at this stage in my opinion hope it helps buddy

I agree it looks like a Cal Mag deficiency. You do say that you're using hard water, but it does not really state what the PPM of your water is. If I was running higher than 250 parts per million I would suggest either looking into a tallboy water system or a RO system. You could also look into just using water jugs from the local Source such as a grocery store or water refill station. One thing I did notice as well that you are running 3 ml per gallon call Meg. I'm not sure what that product suggest for the usage of the product, but when using Coco coir / perlite mix I usually 1.5x the cal-mag. Coco coir seems to make the calcium and magnesium less available/affective for some reason. Just my experience.
