Frenchy covers everything important when it comes to making hash. cold water, don't beat it up (i.e. water creates the frictions, not ice), soak it... all about preventing it from deteriorating and then you end up with black or green hash. Should be honey-gold colored initially, then due to oxidation it will darken on the outside. If you smush it and roll it up, it will also darken up.
you get what you put in with bubble hash. Anything that seems leafy or what i prefer in a nug, i toss it into the hash bin. I have a trash bin and a hash bin. I remove any larf or small nugs from the stems.. no lumber in the hash bin!
Get a little washing machine. $50-100. My recommendation -- largest you can find but more importantly the interior should be smooth. No nooks or crannies -- like a lint trap in the corner that slides in.. then the plastic mold that holds the insert will still trap and collect bits of bud as it swirls.. defeating the purpose for those bits. Small portion, but something to avoid and much easier to clean if you do.
Do a little modification.. get rid of the flimsy drain hose. replace it with mayabe a 12" projection from the unit at bottom. Get a twist on cap for it, etc etc.. think frenchy covers this too. These things are easy to modify. there's a motor, a belt and that's about it. Easy to put back together.
all mesh bags are great, but won't make a difference as to drainage speed except with a 25-micron bag. Don't pay $100 for a set of bubble bags. find a set that contains at least 25u at your lower end... a 120-160u bag and a 220u work bag. You can be more of a conisseur if you like. Add a 45u bag.. the 45-120 will be the best stuff, supposedly, but you'll need an 8-bag set to get that size.
don't pick me for an answer, as i'm not eligible... plus, it's all in the video. 2nd-hand info
