Plants will keep alive for some time, but not nutrients uptake will happen. Think about a lettuce head in your fridge, it's still alive. A green tomatoe will still turn red after cut from the plant. Proper drying will definitely turn clear into cloudy and cloudy into amber. Hope this solves your question! Happy smokes!

Yes they do, that's why it is better to cut the whole plant at the bottom and hang upside down to let your buds dry out on the stem, the longer the better I have even let plants dry out still in the pot when the plant is finished just stop watering it and put it in a dark place for about a week or two until the plant is completely dried out and then harvest it, this method has produced some of the most terpene rich weed that I've ever experienced.

The only thing that stops is the plant taking in nutrients and water, as you dry and cure the will keep maturing its part of the process.Hopefully, that answered your question and feel free to ask for advice anytime, and remember ..."Happy Growing" and "Free your mind one puff at a time"
