Why turn off the drip in DWC?

Can anyone tell me why people say to turn off the drip function in DWC after the roots have reached the water?

osmotic pressure causes the water to track up the roots anyway... sort of like how the end of a towel in water will cause it to "suck" up the water.. I keep my water flowing for water health/quality reasons.. Moving water is then sitting stagnant water.. Either way I'd recommend a high quality air pump..

You shouldn't even need the drip to begin with honestly. The air bubbles and a full res should be plenty for the plant. I haven't used drips in my DWC and it only takes a week for the roots to hit water in 5gal buckets.

that is not the right word at all.. but the information is correct anyway.. not osmotic pressure but something else.. I'm a bit tired can't think.
