I started with Rockwool cubes bc I was drawn to Hydro but they never worked out for me. I think they are a decent product and concept but I always overwatered or the cube just felt dense. I've looked at a lot of literature about it and the PH of the cubes leans 1 way so some people will pre-rinse them in RO water and then ph balance the water they are in. One of the things I noticed was that they always seemed really deep for the holes and I never liked how hard the seedling had to work to get through the Rockwool. Long story short I always crack my seeds in a paper towel and even the ILGM site guarantees to pop if you put them in a glass of water first. I carefully place them in Root riots with the tail down and about halfway up. I found that they breathed more air through them and I didn't overwater as much as I thought I did with Rockwool. I then place them directly in the net pot with my systems water level just kissing the bottom with bubbles from airstones. PS I'm a noob but I think my perspective may help bc no one just told e to skip those steps with Rockwool and to go straight into the net pot. I've learned proper planning helps me with space and I usually keep an extra plant separate from the RDWC system so I may add it later if one has any issues. 10 days is the longest any seed has ever taken for me, it was using "easy start", other than that in soil its never got past 4 days, and in paper towel its got a root coming out in 2 days maximum and its ready for planting. In short, be patient, in ur method of germination they will be popping out all of a sudden overnight in a couple days from now.
