Darkness before flipping crop?

TJMJR

I'm getting ready to flip my crop to flower. What's the significance of giving the crop 25 - 36 hours of darkness before flipping? In the past, I would just flip the lights to 12 and 12 and introduce the flowering fertilizer slowly while reducing the foliage solution.

I wouldn't use a darness period before the flip. Many people have talked about trying this in the passed and mention stress of some plants, i even overheard(read) thats certain plant din't reciver well. Some growers add more darkness time to fasten rippening resulting in lost of yeild to achive faster harvesting which can be arlright if timing is a factor. But the onky thing that i can think of if you do a dark periods before flip other then a stress is elongation. The lack of light us going to cause the plant to stretch tremendously... The best advise for reduces stretch would be to use a bleu spectrum light during first weeks of flowering other then this. I would just flip 12/12 . And do a dark period befor harvest.

I agree with @BluntZilla and @Frigault. I think it's unnecessary stress. I always switched the time from 18 to 12 hours and I never had a problem. As he said, a moment after switching, start changing the feed from growth to flower, the transition takes about a week, and everything will be fine. Don't pursue a quick result, it's usually counterproductive...

Succes😉

There's no reason to cause that kind of stress to your plant at that point of growth! The usual belief is about 36-48 hours of darkness right before you harvest to cause huge stress to your plant and induce trichome production. Keep doing the usual flip to 12/12 but only defoliate once at that stage of growth!!!! (lollipopping is the best option) the foliage produces sugars and proteins through photosynthesis and provide your plant energy! Keep the leaves on and feed her the proper diet (It is not normal for leaves to yellow and fall off during flowering) and you'll have big dense buds! Hope this helps! Good luck and happy growing :)
