I'd like to know what you guys think about this bud formation shape which is kind of the signature of GG. Also do you think they will get fat enough to fill those spaces? There already are a few thick and fat regular buds but these ones not fattening at all like for two weeks...

Heat stress and light stress are the most common factors. If it's just the top buds, then this is likely the case. It normally happens when growers misjudge the stretch and then run out of room to move the lights up any further. If all of the buds are foxtailing, then it's genetic. The foxtails themselves won't add anything of value. The bud they produce will likely be immature. They won't get very dense either.

Bought 1600x microscope so right now I'm in the tense waiting mode because I'm just about to be sure if it's already too late or everything's fine...

@The8thChevron thanks all for that details! Well, I'm sure there were heat stress for a while but except the extra tailing on the most-top buds, all the rest are just in the same shape anyway. This strain known with her tailish buds but also known with the ultra high yield capability. So I can't see how it'll go that way. I think it should start to get fatten a little since there are buds still growing but on the other hand I feel like I might have missed the right time to start with the Overdrive and did the defoliation not with the best timing. But it might be just the pessimism. There are couple of younger buds and they just looking good with their regular bud shape. Also they get more thick and fat everyday while the tailish rest just doing nothing except getting more purple.

Hi, if all the buds top and lower are foxtailing then it is most likely genetic, sativas are more prone to this 👍

@DoctorGreenThumb yeah probably because HPS light placed too close bud most lower buds are in the same appearance too so I do think it's about something else. Don't know if they will get fatter than this...

@BudgetGrows hey double harvest is a good idea and thank you for putting in my mind. I definitely will consider that. Well the weird thing is all the buds are approx. same except the ones trying to cath-up. There are just two bud appearances: one purple-ish and fox tail-ish matures and the other regular fat and heavy almost mature buds. There are just 3-4 of them.

There were couple of buds trying to catch-up and that while all rest of the plant didn't grow at all. As the young buds got deeper into the fattening and maturing business, these ones kept getting more purple and grew finger buds like fox tails. Young ones are still in all green but they are one of that bud types that you'll be happy to see on your plant. I did a full defoliation once like I defoliated almost every single fan leaf even the ones close to the bud sites. That was because there were real serious amount of leaves that probably will slow down the growing progress and fill all the gaps which buds can grow and fill. Actually I do think if I had done the defoliation a bit sooner they might have grown with a better shape. Because all the spaces you see between finger buds were full of leaves... This is the second AN Overdrive feeding btw. Thanks!

Hi, if it's effecting the top buds and not the lower then it is possibly a heat/light stress, maybe try raising your light to see if it helps, if you feel the lower buds are not as developed when it comes harvest time then look at a double harvest, hope this helps happy growing 👍

Could be from heat/light stress. Best wishes for the rest of the grow.
