Nah, it is not necessary or scientifically proven as beneficial, it just stresses your plant and why stress your plant at harvest time and after weeks/months of careful growing?? After experimenting with different harvest methods/timing over the last 3 decades, I settled on harvesting about 1-2 hours after the sun comes up or the lights come on, after a normal night, without any sort of weird photoperiod manipulations. This seems to produce flowers with the maximum terpenes and healthiest trichomes. To my mind, the last thing you want to do before harvest is to freak your plant out with weird techniques borne out of urban myths perpetuated by people too high to think clearly and with limited knowledge of how plants actually function. I believe my harvest timing allows for a perfectly happy plant and with a correctly functioning metabolism, to be harvested with every aspect of its health to be at its peak. I would much rather harvest a plant at peak health than one which is undergoing some sort of induced stressed caused by an unnatural and freaky super long dark period. Maybe experiment yourself to find out what works best for you, but I personally do not believe in stressing my plants right before harvesting. Hope this helps,............. Organoman.
