Watering run-off question (sorry for noob question but there are so many different / confusing opinions online)

Hello. I know that I shouldn't water unless the top inch of soil is dry, but when I do add water should I add enough to get 10% run off even with a day-19 plant? She is in a 5 gallon fabric pot with Biobizz Allmix soil. Does the 10% run-off thing also apply to feeding? Thanks.

I'm using the same soil as you.. good choice 😝.. that's how I water. I also run 2l of plain water through sometimes (to get rid of salt buildup) then I run 2L of nutes. You can't overwater them in one go. It just needs to dry out (not fully) before the next watering. So much conflicting information about. I soaked my pot 24hours before seed then left it for 10 days and my plants are looking big for their age I think. I water 2L when they feel really light and i haven't had any issues 😊

Yes, I always water to run off, seedling, veg and flowering. This helps in 2 regards - 1), ensures the substrate is moistened from top to bottom and 2), helps prevent nutrient salts from building up to toxic levels in your substrate. Hope this helps, Organoman.
