Molasses/sugar does nothing for your plant directly and the whole idea of "giving sugar to make sugar (trichomes)" is an absolutely nonsensical theory developed by hippies too high to think clearly and with little knowledge of how plants function.
Sugar/molasses MAY help some soil microbes slightly, which MAY make nutrients slightly more readily available, but nothing spectacular.
If you want spectacular, give your plants some organic amino acids, fulvic acid or humic acids, these will actually do a lot of real beneficial outcomes for both your soil and your plant, probably in the order of 10,000 times more than any sugar water. At the moment there are a lot of people making lots of money and laughing all the way to the bank selling over priced and largely useless and expensive sugar water.
For best results, applying all three acids will do absolute wonders for your plant. Adding some extra soil mycorrhizae will turbo charge your plants and I personally can not ever imagine growing without these amendments since discovering their usefulness some 25+ years ago.
Hope this helps,..........
