Yes, adding CO2 in late bloom is not really worth it, the plant has nearly finished.
CO2 is more useful for accelerated veg growth, not flower maturation, where CO2 aids nothing in late flower maturation.
Any funky smells introduced into an enclosed atmosphere during late flower will certainly taint the flavour and smell of the flowers.
Unfortunately, once tainted, there is little that can be done to remove the offensive smell.
