LST planning - planting seed off centre?

Planning ahead for LST on my next grow. Is it a good idea to plant the seed to one side of the pot and encourage it to grow horizontally towards the other side of the pot (i.e. plant the seeds on left side of plant pot and train to the right) or can this cause any root issues?

Have been doing exactly this for years! Roots will grow where the soil is, it does not matter if it "behind" the main stem. This can also provide additional shading to the surface of the pot and slow evaporation slightly. It is a good idea, go for it! I prefer positioning the plant about one third across from the edge and have two thirds of the soil behind the plant stem. Hope this helps, Organoman.

In all honesty it really doesn't matter where it is planted. The roots will stretch where they want, I personally prefer planting in the middle of the pot and LST everything out all directions instead of just 1. It gives me more space to work with and I can rotate my planters easily. Doing the method your talking about does make LST easier to a point, it all depends on how you train the plant.

Please look at my Larry lemon diary. I do exactly what your planning. Plus i have a seed to smoke daily picture. Where I show my lst, and when I start based on plant size not day. I recommend fabric potters so roots get pruned on the one side and it promotes more root growth as well. I use 3 gallon or 11l potters. good luck and happy growing 🌱🌱🌱
