When to transplant?

Any opinions on when I should transplant this Day 12 guy? Some say 4-5 leaves, some 7, some less. I only see one small root out of the bottom, but its hard to see - the holes aren't huge. I am thinking of going to a 3gal, or a 5gal.

Transplant now, into a 5 gallon, would be my advice. The pots you are using are really only big enough for 10-14 days. Filling them right up to the top next time would aid in root development and help prevent any chance of stunting them. I usually transplant when they get to the third node, forth node maximum. Cheers, Organoman.

A 3 gallon is more then enough for a autoflower. I would transplant now. In future it is best to start autos where they finish. Helps reduce any stress. Good luck and happy growing 🌱🌱🌱

I always try to transplant when the 2nd set of leaves pass the outside of the planter. If you wait till the roots start to circle around the cup instead of still reaching down, it will slow growth a little. You want to transplant before they hit the bottom of the cup. If the roots are already circling the bottom then cut them open just a little so there hanging down. I get the best results this way. I go from a solo cup ( my starting method in soil ) straight to a 5gal fabric pot. Or if I'm low on soil and 5gal pots I'll do a 3gal. Then transplant to a 5 later
