Time to flush?

Charlesberg
Charlesbergstarted grow question 3 years ago
Hi people. Trichromes are milky and no sign of them turning amber just yet, the pistols are all white still too. When do you think I should start my flush? Should I wait until they start to turn amber and flush for around 10 days or so or start the flush now? Thanks

Hi there. It’s hard to not harvest early the first time. I made that mistake with my first plant (Polar Express). Breeders’ quoted times are optimistic (for obvious competitive reasons) and for indoor. When growing outdoor the plants tend to get bigger, and when combined with cooler nights, they take longer to finish. So, hard to answer your question without knowing the strain, age, etc. As a minimum, plants likely need 6-8 weeks in flower. I find most outdoor autos take about 14 weeks or 100 days from seed. Also, flushing is over-rated. You have the right idea looking at the trichomes, but your pics indicate the plant is still a bit young. Plants can put on a lot of mass in the last few weeks so it pays to bee patient. Cheers and good luck.

Sorry, it even close. You have minimum 2/3 weeks to go. Check the trichomes and start to flush when you are about 10% amber. Flushing is a whole other thing… look it up

Usually it is done 2 weeks before estimated harvest. By the looks of it....it may need at least that much to turn amberish, but if not enough sun they will be delayed. Gently press the buds to check for density. If not that dense as expected from this strain, give one more PK 13/14 or similar, then start flushing after 3/4 solid days. So it's up to your appreciation. It's a good learning moment...

Looks awesome. I would wait for pistils to just start changing colour and for the lower leaves becoming discoloured before flushing, lower leaves yellowing means the plant is finding it easier to cannibalise than take nutes from the soil so makes sense to start a flush then in my opinion, no need for them substrate nutes any more eh?...new to indoor but used to do outdoor / guerilla photos so thats my indoor newby 2 cents.
