Look in the 2 nooks at any growth node (early on it is symmetrical, older plant will have alternatingn nodes)... do you see a "grape on a tiny twig" branch-like projection or is it a nub? If it is a nub, it's a female. Eventually you'll see little white projections pop out -- even in vege phase, if you go long enough, but definitely show preflowers early weeks of bloom. The male pollen sac will continue to get large and will obviously be a projection on a twig vs nestled in nook of node.
Google images can help alot... when they are just forming it is difficult to see sometimes, but the answer becomes apparent with time... long before any chance of pollination.
so, little nubs are good.. little white hairs even better. Early on, it may be difficult to distinguish. a little magnification can help.
If you are looking at the 2 pointy things at node, those are not sex organs. Stipules are always present regardless of gender. the shap of them and the orientation is not correlated to anything.
