I am planning on using a 20/4 light schedule with my grow. My question is, would 24 hours on make a difference? I plan to use FF Happy frog and no nutes until signs of need. Hoping to have quality and quantity.

18/6 is optimum, cannabis can only grow so much during any 24 hour period and this growth tops out at around the 18 hour mark, meaning running your lights any longer than 18 hours is basically a waste of electricity. Besides, and this is the MOST important FACT, all plants, cannabis included, NEED a dark period every 24 hours to finalize the photosynthetic cycle and have a healthy metabolism. 24/0 could only be recommended by someone who doesn't understand how photosynthesis works or how plants function. Short answer - do not use 24/0, plants need a dark period to function properly. 18/6 has been derived at through 80+ years of research into cannabis and is not a random number! Hope this helps, Organoman.

I use 24/0 for all first week, then only go to 18/6. Just tried 20/4 for 10th time in my life and changed to 18/6 in the middle of run ... Girls just look constantly droopy sleepy and unhappy, 6 hours of rest works best for me, no doubts ! All the best !

I have seen some people grow autos with 24/0 the first few weeks of its life before it flowers and they have had good results. almost always though they say it suffers in flower and plants look weak. so they go to 20/4 or 18/6 in flower. However if it starts to get any problems before flower, you need to treat the issues and give it a rest period of 20/4 or 18/6 moving foward I use 18/6 and think its a better choice. There are big debates about it all over the place. If you keep your environmentals are kept in check. you'll be fine. Good Luck and Happy Growing!

I think you’ll find most folks will agree that going 24 hours the whole cycle is overkill. They need rest man pure and simple. Also, what’s more important is DLI or daily light integral. If you want a higher DLI you can keep it at 20/4 but lower lights or turn up dimmer. No dark period is just insanity to me. And I’ve seen plenty of diaries that look like shit and have issues cuz of this

@WWJDG I personally prefer to give the plants and the equipment a break each day and 20/4 seems to be the most preferred lighting schedule for autos Best of luck
