i actually do use old fish tank water for all my cannabis. It imparts a full microbe inoculation for your soil, if your fish tank has live plants in it. And to answer your question, no letting water sit out only works for chlorine it will not get rid of chloramines which are widely used in addition to chlorine. Chloramines have to be removed by chemical or physical process. I use Seachems prime to treat my water before it goes in the fish tank. You can find prime in most Aquarium retailers.

Most municipal water centres use chloramines now. It will not break down from age or bubbling, has a more stable halflife and does a better job. Boiling water will remove chlorine in 2hrs but you need over 24hrs to remove chloramine in a boil. You can break it down with vitamin C added into the water. 1,000 mg of vitamin C to 40gal of water. or 25 mg/gal or 6.6 mg/L Good Luck!

Yes, and it does not make any difference that I can tell without a laboratory. Leaving water in buckets for 24+ hours will let all the chlorine dissapate, so no need to use ager. These days I just use straight tap water and do not consider chlorine a threat to my plants.
