How did my soil get SO acidic?!

Growing in ProMix. Using FoxFarm. Soil test everytime I water/feed. Adjust ph of liquids to suit. All of a sudden, soil ph is at 4.5! WHY?!?! Flushed them w/lots of PH-Up, one has come back, the other still struggling.

Fox farm is so strong at recommended doses. I imagine salt build up is happening which leads to acidic root zone / medium.

Just a note to those of you who have said it looks like a case of overwatering... they were absolutely BONE DRY when I found them in this condition! No moisture at all - even under the (fabric) pot! Both have started to come back - have gone through one incredible stretch today - and the leaves are starting to pick back up... but if it was a case of UNDERwatering, they would have picked back up much sooner, yes? I ONLY water when the soil is completely dry....

Also, stick to one brand of nutes. And you don't flush with buffers. You use buffers in your solution, hence theres no need to add them in after the damage. And to me, it looks like a case of over watering as I see no signs of toxicity. Rule of thumb, at least 1-2 inches should be dry before watering again. Just do 1 water a day if soul of 250ml instead of 5 50ml feeds if you get me. And 1 more thing there should be no need for ph buffers if it's promix you shouldn't be adding much for the veg stage as this is more or less provided by the soil. Then in flower your plants can take more nutes. Happy growing

When you flush, you’re flushing out any pH buffers like lime. Lower growth is displaying a minor Mg deficiency. But don’t just go dumping powdered dolomite lime into your soil. You can add a little bit, mix it in and water. Then test again after a couple days. If you over do it, your pH will end up way too high.

If your plants are not effected its probably OK. I've used FFHF soil that runs hot and never a problem. The wilting plants are over watered. Let them dry before watering again.

If you go to my Tangerine Dream diary, look at weeks 1-4 as the feeding has been the same with my two younger ones. The third pic is of my 7-week old and I found that her soil was ALSO highly acidic - but she wasn't reacting badly to it at all (I DID flush her too!) Every time I went to water or feed, the soil would ALWAYS test out about 7 beforehand so I would add some PH-Down to try to get then into a good range.... the next time I went to water/feed, the soil was again at 7ph... I'm wondering if all the acid I gave them to get the soil down somehow accumulated and then registered with great force? This is just a puzzlement! I'm not sure I'm going to be able to save one of my little (4-weeks old) ones...
