Autoflower PPM Requirements - DWC

Hydronautstarted grow question 3 years ago
I have found this plant's water/nutrient intake is equal at 350ppm right now - end week 5. I am beginning to feel after several auto grows that the ppm requirement with GH nutrients is WAY less than what the web serves up? I doubt I can push this one beyond 500ppm? (0ppm water)

Yeah, none of the charts are terribly accurate, but then they're sort of generalized and not plant/strain specific. I was always comfy somewhere about 50% or so of the medium or light schedules depending. I could never feed any of the autos I ran more than 1.2EC, and usually closer to .9 to 1EC. These days I've moved to GH MaxiGro/MaxiBloom and use between 5-7g per feeding and it's much easier and less hassle.

I added my revised auto feeding chart I created for my Auto journey using GH Trio+ nutrients. This active spreadsheet only requires a change in ppm value (in blue), and it calculates the exact PPM requirement of each nutrient for the given rise. Its the only way to use the GH extended lines without a degree in calculus and a ton of time (although this spreadsheet took plenty to figure out:). Add-backs are a snap. Are we getting on track here with the feeding schedule on some levels with Autos?

Hey buddy. Its not just your ppm. I think ppl forget the most important part, its how you get there and with what you are using. You are using a lot of different products, yeah you are right DWC is very sensitive and is showing that with how many nutes you are using. If you want to focus on say PK for flowering go through your nutes, drop some and you'll be able to raise the PPM. Make sense? Even though you are using small doses its still a lot of nutes, and with it being DWC everything is brought out. Also other nutes like enzymes root stims can and just mixing nutes in general you can't get a real ppm count. If you were to do all them nutes single and take each ppm it'd be 2-300 each with 8 nutes u can what im getting at?

I have heard that GH nutrients don't need as much, they are good products. plus some plants feed differently. Hopefully a Hydro Head chimes in with experience in GH to confirm your findings.

Yep you are correct. I find the GH chart is way to strong, I usually start with half the amount on the "Light Feed" chart. Its best to get a feel for the plant and compare your daily PPM values to each other. Check the same time every day as the PPMs will fluctuate depending on lights on/off and water temp. If your PPM's are going up then you need to lower the feed. PH should be going down. If your PPM's are going down slightly your in the sweet spot. PH should be stable with a 1-2 day increase of 0.1 If your PPM's are going down alot you need to increase your feed. PH will be going up. *** The higher your PPM's the less of a PH change you will see. Nuturents act as a stabilizer.
