Proper Mix Sequence

Capo420
Capo420started grow question 3 years ago
For nutrients some say to add cal mag after silica sits and bonds but before base nutes and others say to add after base nutes SMH so much misinformation makes it hard for new growers😅 I know mixing sequence matters. I just don't know which is correct.

got to agree with @ezzjaybruh With so many companies and formulations now, it might be best to follow whats on the manufactures website and bottles. Then when you have a bunch of clones to experiment with try and see if it makes a difference by running a small two part study. Best of Luck and Happy Growing!

Frankly, you should be able to see if your mixed has caused any precipitation - if it looks cloudy or ya see little white chunks that’s a bad sign.. Assuming your nutes are normally not cloudy looking

I’d go by what your specific company says but GH had a specific part of their schedule that outlines this.. Silica first, followed by calmag, followed by micro, followed by anything else - at that point there’s no difference. Silica and the cal mag are then finicky ones because they’ll precipitate if not done properly.

In my nutrition package it clearly states add base first mine is a 3 part. So I go micro, grow. Bloom, silica, calmag. Seaweed, bloom booster then adjust ph. They Say add base first as the other chemicals can render some micro nutrition unavailable if they do not mix with water first. I use Blue Planet Elite nutrition package . Good luck

@Capo420 Hi mate to be honest as long as you let the silica settle and readjust ph accordingly I doubt it matters which order you add the nutes or calmag and is just a preference thing

I was questioning it for first two years, wrote to all manufacturers I was using products off and never got clear answer , so I went my personal way and it's working !!! If I have to use silica, Cal mag or any other additive I use it next waterings after I gave feed so it looks something like this : Full BioBizz feed Water + CalMag Water + silica Water Full BioBizz feed And etc For me it makes magic, especially when I use silica in certain stages and Cal mag only if I see first signs of need. All the Best !
