Has anyone ever burried fish/aquatic material from rivers or lakes (zebra mussles, shells, seaweed etc) in an outdoor garden? I have an unlimited supply of organic materials like this and I'm trying to use it to fertilize/stimulate my outdoor garden.. am I on the right track??

Hello. Way back in the 80's we use to bury fish heads under the plants outside for fertilizer. Careful animal like that kind of smell too. Can you crush the shells up. Good calcium if you crush it up fine. Slugs and snails don't like to crawl over that type of stuff. We use to bury some rusted nails for iron for the plant to chose from, But seaweed is high in iron too with all sorts of micro nutrients so try grannys tea but start off with small doses till you see how the plant takes it. Oh yes if it comes from the ocean wash it first to remove most of the salts, a little is ok. Good Luck. Chuck.

Yooooo, you are so on track it’s not even funny. Grab all that seaweed bro. Place in cooler with water. Let that shit sit 1 week. Water will change color and smell like Charlie Tina’s house. Week 1: 1:1 ratio Week 2: 1 part seaweed to 2 parts water Week 3: 1 part seaweed to 3 parts water ( begin a new bin) Week 4: dump old seaweed Week 4: start week 1 again I use seamoss for my ladies to help the with any issues with the plants absorbing nutrients I add. Seamoss is the vitamin pack for plants as is seaweed. Not sure which is better, but I know the both work VERY well. If you have time: YouTube: Backyard farmer Pat Seaweed for plants video

it will cause pH fluctuations if not correctly treated and processed, but you can make teas and such it's great, and it's free !
