the purple could be genetics... could be cooler temps too... if it's not boing below 68F, more likely genetics.
plant doesn't care if the vaiables are all the same but it cannot handle those things as well as the next plant -- genetic variation. So, observe and react... being consistent like that is a good thing... it allows you to react in a more useful manner over time, but don't think it guaranteed a specific result. it's a ballpark idea that saves loads of effort.
secondly, no matter how hard you try, there are always differences even if not genetic. this is why research with any integrity has very large sample sizes appropriate for the probabilities at hand...
