Hi all, At the minute I'm buying the little green co2 bags off Amazon. It seems to work but I don't have readers to tell me if it is. I wanna ask budget growers, or pro growers, what they use? If making your own works? Is cost effective? I got a sog grow on if that helps. Thnx

Unless you are using a closed/sealed system, using CO2 is largely a waste as most of it will be drawn away by any fans you are using, long before the plants can get any benefit from it. Save your money for top quality nutrients or lights instead.

Running c02 is basically useless, unless your using high end led and or you have a hotter than normal grow area.

i got a refillable baking soda citric acid rig. one of those metal tanks you fill and seal and it holds around 200g of co2 when the reaction is complete, they are designed for aquariums :) i’ve also done yeast sugar rigs before as well and used exhale bags as those bags you are about to buy. will any of these create co2? yes. is the difference really noticable? controversial. i’ve seen data from people with proper equipment that it really doesnt do what it says on the bag and that its kinda hit and miss in some cases. meaning some bags perform better than the others etc etc. either way none of these can be compared to running a professional co2 setup tanks solenoid valve controller regulator and sensors in a sealed room but all of these will add a little bit more co2 so they’re not bad to use per se. however the method that makes the most economical sense is a professional rig because initial investment is high yes but refills are cheap and it’ll pay off in the long run.
