Yep, until it sprouts primordia/pre-flowers, there is no absolute 100% way of telling. If you go to week 7 in my diary "cannabis conundrums", I have posted pictures of both male and female primordia which may help you to identify what is going on with your plant once it starts flowering, which if it is an auto-flower, should happen soon, otherwise you will have to go to 12/12 if it is a photoperiod plant/seed. On a side note, next time fill your pots right up, the soil is the cheapest part of any grow and the more soil, the more roots and the more roots, the more plant! Also with more soil the plants sit up higher in the pot, meaning they get more (reflected) light and therefore grow quicker. Hope this helps, Organoman.
