Changing Lighting Schedule

EJBudz
EJBudzstarted grow question 2 years ago
The days on the plants are since planting, so i was going to keep the vegetative light schedule until 5 weeks since planting, then start moving towards a 12/12. Is it even optimal for an autoflower to have a traditional 12/12 lighting schedule during flowering?

Only photoperiods need 12/12 to flower, the whole point of autoflower is that they will just flower without you doing anything - therefore you cannot plan how long you want to veg them, they will just flip when they decide so, usually after 4-5 weeks. Ideally you should just stick to 18/6 or 20/4 for the whole grow. Using 12/12 has no benefit to it with autos, instead you are just depriving them from light and therefore growth, and your yields decrease as their life cycle is pre-determined.

Autos need more lights so I wouldn't ever try 12/12 the yealds will be affected Is there any reason why you cannot keep 18/6 ? Good luck growing but Autos will flower in 18hours anyway so inless it's impossible to give 18hours then stick with it

It seems that the best light schedule for autos is 18/6 since they flower on their own there really is no need to change the light schedule. The only time I would recommend running a 12/12 with autos is if the plant just won't flower it's own which can happen sometimes with autos.

Ciao!

It's not optimal - but autoflowers will grow under 12/12... they're just not going to reach their full potential... the more light an auto gets during flower, the larger the buds and the heavier the yield... Good luck!
