If you are new to growing.... avoid disappointment and forget about autos and stick with much superior and more forgiving photoperiod plants would be my advice.
Autos with their limited veg time before flowering commences automatically (duh!) really need very experienced growers to be able to provide the absolute best conditions so that the plants reach an acceptable size before flowering begins. They are also much less forgiving when it comes to mistakes or hiccups, something that is bound to occur if/when you are new to growing.
Phoptoperiod plants will teach you the fundamentals of cannabis cultivation and give you a good insight and education into what there is to learn. They also tolerate any hiccups far better and the biggest thing is that YOU control when they flower and then, only once you are satisfied with their size, health and vigor.
There are no free lunches in life and just thinking "I will get the best seeds and with limited experience and not enough time to spend looking after them, I will get a huge harvest of premium buds".........well it ain't going to happen.....you need to serve an apprenticeship first!
If life was that easy, we ALL would be Olympic standard athletes without having to do any training!
There are 100s of feminized photoperiod indica hybrids that are easy to grow, fast flowering, productive, potent and great for learning with........Northern Lights, any of the Cookies family, Kush types and the well established Skunk varieties all will give you extremely pleasing buds with minimal input.
You need to learn how to walk before you start running!
I have been growing for close to 40 years and still learn every time I do and still make mistakes too (but not as often anymore!).
Sativas and Sativa dominant hybrids are a bit more finnicky and require some experience and effort to get good results.
You will also save a huge amount of electricity growing photoperiod plants vs autoflowers.........
Using a fairly typical 14 week cycle.........
Autoflowers = 14 weeks at 18 hours of lights on time = 1764 hours of lighting.
Photoperiod = 6 weeks at 18 hour of lights on time = 756 hours of lighting, .... plus
8 weeks at 12 hours of lights on time = 672 hours of lighting......
.......... for a total of 1428 hours of lights on time.
So by growing photoperiod plants, you will save 336 hours of lights on time (1764-1428=336) versus growing autoflowers over the same 14 week period.
I know which electricity bill I would prefer!
Anyway.....forget autos and grow photoperiod plants would be my advice to any new growers and growers with limited time to tend to their plants..... and this also decreases your risks of (autoflower) disappointment too!
Hope this helps, Organoman. (and enemy of autoflowers!)
