If I topped at the 5th node can I fim at the 6th or 7th node? Or should I stick with topping and not confuse the plant with different techniques?
Solved
Techniques. Topping
Techniques. FIMing

Listen to the plant! If it responds well, go for it! And as crawlndog said, a photoperiod will take much more of a beating, but if you're growing an auto be a little wearier ✊

Thanks everyone, I feel from research all of you are spot on. This is my first grow and I will take your advice into my next grow and for this grow I wont do anymore fimming or topping..I'll continue with simple LST. Luckily for me I feel my plants rebounded. I'll upload new pics today if anyone is willing to take a look and tell me if they have recovered from topping and fimming. Again thanks everyone. I wish I found this community earlier!! Better late than never!

Topping is reliable.....fimming not very reliable and MUCH more stressful for the plant. After extensive experiments with topping vs fimming, I will never fim again and only ever use "normal" topping now, due to excessive recovery time when fimming and great difficulty getting fmming to work reliably/successfully too. I would suggest just sticking to normal topping, your photoperiod plant won't mind it either.

You're growing an auto - and autoflowers hate terribly stressful techniques as they often don't have the time to recover before they're needing to do something else. Stick to LST only for autoflowers! You don't want to have to pitch your grow because it didn't produce anything... Good luck!

As long as the plant has time to recover... (not being an autoflower), it will take all kinds of training... mixed or hard core techniques. Autoflowers struggle with topping and fimming due to their short veg life.😁
