There are only 2 reasons to use defoliation. The first reason is when leaves are stacked on eachother blocking the airflow. Then the moist that transpirate from the bottom of the leave can not escape. This moist can cause mold or fungal. The second reason is when a large leaf is blocking a huge amount of light for a large part of the plant. Other then this there is not reason to defoliate leaves and it will only harm your plant for nothing. During the growing period this will only cost you more recovering time and during flowering it will decrease yield. There is 1 more reason to use defoliation but this is not about cutting away the leaves. But to cut away the smaller and lower budsites. The reason to do this is because growers want the plant to use all her energy for the larger buds on top of the plant instead of the smaller popcorn buds.
