Photos to fill in space for failed Autos?

CreatureCreator
CreatureCreatorstarted grow question a year ago
My grand plan was to pop 3 Autos in 5 gal fabric pots in a 3x3, but I killed one 😓 Should I try and pop a Magnum Auto, or maybe try a few small photos in 1gal pots in the same tent to fill the canopy, or would the shading and logistics be too much? Stick with 2 matching autos?

They are both good plans. If you pop a new auto it will take time to catch up then finish later then the rest. I like the idea popping a photoperiod or two and keeping the pots smaller, this way you can veg them out after the autos are finished, transplant them into bigger pots then flip to flower after they fills the canopy area. The auto version will finish faster if your pressed for time, the photoperiod version will take longer but you should be able to yield more in the end and its fun to grow both. FYI: We will not be notified of any reply or tag [@] in the questions part of the website, if you need to reach out with other information use your DM "direct mailbox" in the bottom right hand corner of the page. it looks like a little paper airplane icon. Best Of Luck!

The autoflowers will take around 3 months from seed till harvest. This grower just started his round so he can harvest the plant in roughly 3 months from now. So m0use and GrowingGrannie their advice is to plant a photoperiod to let that plant stay in the vegging state for 3 months XD and start the blooming for 10 weeks after XD while he can plant another autoflower that will be ready around the same time as the others... I mean it is your choice CreatureCreator but I would not leave a photoperiod grow for 3 months. Instead I would place another autoflower (maby another strain for some variety in your stash) that can be harvested around the same period as the other ones. Maby 1 or 2 weeks later but not 2-3 months later...

I'd be warry of anyone saying something is not possible because they don't understand the concept. "Photoperiod strains do not start to flower until you switch the light to a 12/12...For this reason the photoperiod strain is not possible." It is very much a possibility. The whole point of running a photoperiod would be to switch it to flower after the autos are done as 18/6 is perfect for vegging. I have done this before and its a great way to get in a bumper crop and try out new genetics. The only down side is time, if you don't have a lot or want to finish up sooner Its not the best option for you and anther auto seed would be better or nothing at all. Cheers,

Well, another autoflower is certainly NOT your "only option" .... how silly! Personally, I would pop a photo to add into your grow.... the Magnum Auto is going to have her own schedule and require whatever length of time she requires - which isn't bad, mind... but if you were to pop a photo now, it would veg and veg during the time it takes your other 2 autos to finish and you could be topping away at the photo and have a massive plant which would be ready to flip when the autos are finished and harvested... In the end, either option is fine - it's just going to depend on what you decide you want to do! Good luck - and happy holidays!!

High CreatureCreator, You are growing autoflowers and they need a 18/6 light schedule during the entire grow. Photoperiod strains do not start to flower until you switch the light to a 12/12 schedule. For this reason the photoperiod strain is not possible. So your only option is to add a autoflower strain. I always germinate 1 or 2 seeds extra for this reason. Sometimes bad genetics let the plants fail from the very beginning. And when they all passed their seedling stage nicely I just pick the best ones and give the other ones away.

You gotta remember that you have the Photos in Veg till you finish the Autos...(Unless you just switch 12/12 when the Autos are still in Flower wich still works but isnt ideal) You can still go for another Auto if your current ones arent like 2-3+ weeks old. Would be a brave combo if you would do it the other way around from the start tho... 👻

Frankly recommend growing photos if you wanna keep rigid timelines. Autos can vary up to 30 days give or take. Photo genetics keep within their range of flowering usually up to a week max.
