guys, the manufacturer, recomends not going over 1.0ec in ghe biothrive / pro organic. however when i leave the ec at 1.0 the ph goes down from 6.0 to 5.0 in 12 hrs ,,, its only when i bring the ec over 1.0,,, the ph starts to rise. is it ok to raise the ec to 1.1 or higher?

If using RO water, it needs to be buffered before using. Either put 20% tap in it or raise PH of water to 10 then bring it down to 6-6.5. Then add whatever you normally add in order.

ty gg, i appreciate the answer, i tried up to 1.6 last time and it was a nightmare lol it really stunted the bud growth , im used to using salt nutrients and taking it up to 1.8, but in boiponics im not sure you can do that,, because the biomass that creates the nutrient can only tolerate so much strength feed , and also aparently in organics the nutes dont register on a ec stick ? i would love it if anyone with experiance of doing bioponics could jump in here and put me out of my misery lol , i am correcting the ph swing with ph up (potassium hydroxide and potassium carbonate). many thanks gg 🙌👌

I know a grower who ran an EC of 5.0 on AUTOFLOWERS (!!! they HATE heavy nutes) and had a MONSTER crop... then he tried a 9.0 on another grow and really screwed things up. I would suggest you let your plants tell you what they're happy with - and it sounds to me like they're saying they need a higher EC - pump some PK into them, not just the calmag... photos can easily tolerate 1.6/2.0 in flower ... many take it even higher... Good luck!

hi smokie, many thanks for answering my question, i am using ro water, i tried bringing it up to 10 with gh ph up, then down to 6.5, then adding calmag in my last run with terrible consiquences, the bud didnt form properly, the ec was to high and so this time im just adding calmag, to 0.4. im more interested in why the ph raises when the ec s over 1.0, and lowers when its under 1.0 is this the res and plants telling me they want to be on 1.1? last week if i raised the ec over 0.9 the ph lowered, but now the plants are bigger the ph raises the more nute i put in..... i imagine if i took the ec to 1.2 then the ph would start falling again because the nutes to strong?
