if it's coco you need to further wash, running some water through it can't hurt.. if ready to use and properly buffered then, no need to complicate things. definitely water it in after you transplant. helps things settle in. Just try not to disturb the rootball as best you can and shouldn't see any major slowdown in growth.
if the plant is significantly undersized fo pot, just water a column around the plant but not stretching to the edge of pot... can widen the circle as needed. Make sure it gets wet all the way to the bottom, though.. you want roots driving down, not growing superficially. probably an area as large as canopy maybe err on side of slightly larger diameter should work well. if nearly to edge in that context just water whole damn thing, lol. just don't try to give small amounts as that will only cause oddities on the edges of moistened volumes of substrate... concentrations could rise over time in those ebb and flow areas.
